Joe Sixpack in California has really been hosed with the bubble and construction meltdown. Getting those guys working on this huge project will get a lot of guys back to work.
Back to work? Yeah, but only if you wear the union label. A big part of this monstrosity is the sweetheart deals that have been struck between the politicians pushing the HSR and the union lobbyists. The whole thing is sheer insanity. We are not like the Euro-Socialists, Americans are never going to get out of their cars and ride the train in any numbers remotely close to the estimated number of riders. This boondoggle makes The Bridge to Nowhere project look like a childs toy.
There is widespread opposition to the HSR, even some Democrats are voicing doubts. There is a petition drive to place a proposition on the ballot to repeal the whole project. John and Ken, a very popular SoCal talk radio duo on KFI AM 640 have been pushing hard on the stop the HSR issue.
To use an analogy, going ahead with this project is like a dead broke guy that cannot pay his rent, has huge credit card debt, owes money to all his family and friends, but who then still goes out and buys a new car no money down with a very high interest rate long term loan.
I'm afraid you should since you're obviously misusing it here. Stringing random words together and misusing theories you obviously don't understand does not an argument make.
I hope they start it tomorrow. Joe Sixpack in California has really been hosed with the bubble and construction meltdown. Getting those guys working on this huge project will get a lot of guys back to work.
Gonna take 12 years of legal wrangling before the first shovel of dirt is turned if any is ever turned at all.
Gotta save the Bakersfield Field Moth dontcha know?
I read somewhere that the projected annual ridership according to the ludicrous supporters of this monstrosity is in excess of 35,000,000, or slightly less than the number of folks who pass through NYC's Penn Station annually.
Somebody cue the Bee Gees----'Jive Talkin',.... tellin' me lies'.....
Talk about a bunch of hot air---Bakersfield to Madera---The Moonbeam Express, aka The Gravy Train---aka The Train To Nowhere.
$1 trillion is certainly a lot more than $3 billion. Bush wasted more than $1 trillion on his unfunded wars. It's nice to see our tax dollars been spent at home with this high speed rail project. If Bush had spent that $1 trillion at home, America would be in a much better place today.
Yep, the double standards are kind of sickening. The conservatives have never seen a military expenditure or misadventure they don't like , but investing America and building things for future generations is somehow an outrage.

Well the first stretch is supposed to cost 5.9 billion dollars and they say it will employ 16K people. Thats around 365K a job. Sounds like Obama's green job stimulus II. What will usually happen is all the lawyers and boards and union leaders will skim piles off the top and end up paying the workers ten bucks an hour which won't be too good for the libs who think they're better than everybody else so illegals will end up bulding the thing while the fat cats count the money going into their bank accounts and laugh at all the fools who voted for this nonsense.
"Good. Better than that 3.2 billion ending up in Afghanistan."
But still not as good as keeping it in the pockets of the taxpayers....from where it initially came!
What is Afghan? Nobody seems to care anymore. There have been more US deaths in Afghan under Obama than Bush yet the anti war screechers remain silent. The media ignores it entirely. Nah they didn't have any agenda back in the day. lol
