For people who say there is no evidence that the Dems are trying to use global warming as an excuse to tax, here is a good example, straight from the Dem congressman's websited:

Congressman John D. Dingell - News - Homeland Security (http://www.house.gov/dingell/carbonTaxSummary.shtml - broken link)

Are they going to tax the American public for the surge of ManBearPig sightings also???

There you have it, elect a democrat president a democrat house and senate, and the federal government will be telling you how big of a house you can have and what kind of car you can drive. this is a great link TN, hopefully it will open peoples eyes to what I have been saying all along, global warming isnt a meteorlogical phenomenon, it is a political vehicle for the democrats to do what they do best, grow the government and raise our taxes! All based on inconclusive nonsense!

His proposal to phase out home interest deductions for homes over 3000 ft was very odd too. If he includes basements in the square footage, his constituents will throw him out of office.

they have never hid anything abou increasing taxes. This one though goes on a global scale. Why do people think that forcefully taking money that I worked hard for is a good idea?

just read the area on where the money would go. lol that is a joke. so not only would you be redistributing our wealth to the lower income. But its so they can buy carbon offsets? yea right.

No, they'll only be telling you how much tax you owe based on the size of the house you choose to own or of the car you choose to drive. Just like now. The tax code contains many such incentives and disincentives. Look at the deduction for church offerings, for instance. The government doesn't tell you how much to put in the plate...just that you won't owe any tax on whatever amount you do put in...

This is one major reason that the fiscal liberals are so strongly against the Fair Tax. They won't be able to control the citzens' behavior with the threat of taking more money from them.

This guy's plan is just flat out socialistic. If climate change is really a threat, and we can really make an impact to stop, then why all the new ways to come up with taxes, and yet none of the taxes are going to fund measures to clean up our air and environment. It is going to redistribution plans, because thats the whole idea, wealth redistribution aka socialism.

But what about the poor people who live in rural areas that have to buy gas in their old clunker just to drive back and forth to work everyday? This guy obviously doesn't care about their issues, because 50 cents a gallon would break some people's budget if they are already making low income.

here is a problem with limiting people on the size of the house. your wealthy tax base will slowly dissapear. The more wealthy will find other ways of hiding there money, and buy smaller homes as to not have to pay the large tax. Then you will be left with a smaller tax base, and therefore less tax gained by the gov't

Exactly. Except you will still have to fund the programs that the dems would build off increased tax revenues, and when they don't collect as much as they thought they would from the rich, guess who gets to foot the bill? Your average middle class family who is struggling to remain middle class.
