I have noticed this a lot, especially on this forum. People complain and complain but never take action.
Here is an example.
People on this website complain about inner city crime A LOT..... but what have they done to help solve the problem?
I was raised in the Valisburg section of Newark,Nj and seen a lot of the problems with inner city youth while growing up. I didn't like what I saw so I got up and tried to make a change.
I volunteer in programs that help keep kids off the streets and teach them alternative routes. I volunteer at the youth centers and even made a basket ball team for youths to join so they can have fun and compete in tournaments.
I have also noticed people complaining about a lot of other stuff too.
People complain about everything from America's homeless to urban blight. If it's really an issue why aren't you taking action America?

I commend volunteer work, and I also participate in housing project efforts. However, I ultimately look for and wish for the volunteer efforts of those within the housing project. I keep wishing in vain.........
A whole list of reasons explain why Americans like to complain instead of do something about it. Then again, it isn't just Americans, it's the world in general. It's just easier to run from problems instead of solve them, I guess.

Yes of course, you are the only volunteer in America.
I spend a lot of time on the md dc-suburbs forum and a lot of the posters there seem very involved and knowledgeable in their communities. It's impressive.
Re-read your thread title. Many, if not most Americans either volunteer their time and/or treasure to help others.
Where is the data to back this up?
