Tri-State finds success with cleaner, more efficient engines
“This truck has the new PACCAR engine in it,’’ said Eliot Medina. “It’s totally different than the Caterpillar engine we used before. And it gets about 2 miles more to a gallon of diesel.’’
Two more miles to the gallon might not seem like a lot, but to a trucking company such as Tri-State — which measures its annual driving in millions of miles — that’s huge.
Bennett said Medina has managed to achieve a fuel efficiency as high as 8 miles to a gallon of diesel. The Caterpillar engines were delivering about 5.4 miles to the gallon.
The bureaucrats at the EPA made the investment and did engineering and manufacturing?
wow who knew?
When i see you try to derail a thread out of Republican spite then it makes me think about all the other stuff republicans think and do to cause trouble for no reason. Makes me wonder if they "GOT YOUR HEAD ON;CHUMP?

what exactly did the EPA do?
You seem to be unable substanciate your own premise.

Yeah, I was trying to understand that connection as well. Reminds me of the Al Gore claim that he invented the internet, that somehow his involvement was the key to its creation when in fact, technology was progressing on its own regardless of him.
Gee Frank. Read the ARTICLE! Or you can google EPA emission rules.
That's the same as claiming the DOT should get the credit for building the cars that withstand the 5 MPH Bumper Impact Test just because they mandated that all cars need to be able to attain that requirement.

Good thing they get better mileage, since it's the EPA's policies that have caused diesel to go up in price. It used to be the cheaper option, until the feds starting regulating the crap out of it.
