an incredible amount of new scientific data has continued to show that many nonhuman animals (animals) have highly develop cognitive skills, rich and deep emotional lives, and display moral behavior. Minding Animals: Some Good News and Some Bad News | Psychology Today

What are we to make of a female gorilla in a German zoo who spent days mourning the death of her baby? Or a wild female elephant who cared for a younger one after she was injured by a rambunctious teenage male? Or a rat who refused to push a lever for food when he saw that doing so caused another rat to be shocked? Aren’t these clear signs that animals have recognizable emotions and moral intelligence? You have demonstrated that their is disagreement in the scientific community over this issue. That isn't all that earth shattering - except that before I cited the excerpt from Dr. Guldberg's book - you were acting as if there is a monolithic mode of thinking with everybody in lockstep.

Thank you for proving that there isn't.

It is invalid.

Here is another snippet from her article...
"Human beings, unlike other animals, are able to reflect on and make judgements about our own and others' actions, and as a result we are able to make considered moral choices."
