Was reading this in Daniel Hannan's book "Why America should not follow Europe". He explained why he believed the US should adopt Singapore's model, if it must have single payer. Singapore UHC offers some free market principles, price transparency, and best of all: no "free ride". Granted, there is price fixing involved. But, would this be an appropriate compromise? Enough Darwinism to satisfy those who believe in personal responsibility, and a system more efficient than systems like the bloated and monolithic NHS.
The bottom line:
Quote:
A key principle of Singapore's national health scheme is that no medical service is provided free of charge, regardless of the level of subsidy, even within the public healthcare system.
