I'm a gamer, so I don't look down on playing necessarily, but it shouldn't interfere with obligations. I've known 3 men who have been fired from their jobs because of WoW.

This shouldn't be difficult to find, but for me it's been absolutely impossible.
That's another thing I detest. People who look down on video games as being childish. As long as you're not ADDICTED, what's wrong with enjoyable an activity which is stimulating, and requires a heck of a lot more brain power than choosing a cute pair of shoes. If any women equates video games with immaturity one more time I think I'm going to scream. Luckily more gals are getting into gaming, but there are still snobbish women and older people who just don't get it and never will...

I find too many women I come across as too needy, and I am the type that likes to do what I want, when I want, how I want and with whom I like doing it with. Plus it is much better for men like this to be dealing with porn as opposed to creating a bunch of kids they will not take care of.

Besides, I read the article and was nothing but an agenda written drivel.
Maybe if prostitution was legalized in the US the whole porn thing wouldn't be such an issue.

that's not what women want from you, that's just what these people who write misandrist newspaper articles for a living want from men of society.

its important to make that distinction. obviously the author of this article doesn't represent all women --- thank god.

I wonder if that's the case in Germany, where blue collar education is championed for those not sure about university.

I've seen a lot of parents let their sons sit around all summer with no supervision. Both parents work and the easiest way to keep a boy busy is an Xbox and a bunch of games.

My sons played hockey, baseball, football and either worked mowing lawns or helping me with building projects or they went to sports camps. Sure they play Xbox a lot, but they work first and foremost.

What do people expect? This is all the fault of the libertine views of their baby boomer parents who changed thousands of years of social convention overnight. Any attempt to restore some balance is denounced as "living in the old days". The thing about the old days is that things worked.

Quote:
Boy, the way Glen Miller played. Songs that made the hit parade.
Guys like us, we had it made. Those were the days.
Didn't need no welfare state. Everybody pulled his weight.
Gee, our old LaSalle ran great. Those were the days.
And you know who you were then, girls were girls and men were men.
Mister, we could use a man like Herbert Hoover again.
People seemed to be content. Fifty dollars paid the rent.
Freaks were in a circus tent. Those were the days.
Take a little Sunday spin, go to watch the Dodgers win.
Have yourself a dandy day that cost you under a fin.
Hair was short and skirts were long. Kate Smith really sold a song.
I don't know just what went wrong. Those Were The Days.

The feminist movement of the late 60's and early 70's reversed gender roles, and that was the point when the emasculation of the American man began.

In advertising, in education structure, in social relationships, etc.

The king of the jungle forced to take a backseat to "I am woman hear me roar".

There are men who are responsible and take charge who were born out of that era, but by and large, they have been "wimpified". The males born in the 80's and 90's came after the feminist movement so they have become used to having a more passive role when dealing with females. Many of them prefer same sex relationships, internet porn, video games and living at home because they don't have to "man-up" and relate to the world in a masculine way. Some are not prepared for it because society told them they didn't have to work so hard or take responsibility.

What is so "masculine" about living independently and supporting yourself? Are they dropping out of college because they are not manly enough?

I am finding it hard to feel sorry for men who feel they "don't have to work so hard or take responsibility." Cutting the apron strings is about being an adult--not a gender construct.

Pray tell, how should we Gen Yers/Millenials act more 'masculine'? Should we tell her to shut up, get into the kitchen? Should we slap her ass in public? Should we lift her up and do bicep curls? Should we don a leopard skin and yell and beat our chests like Tarzan? How does one relate to the world in a 'masculine' way? And how does one in turn relate to it in a 'feminine' way?
