What, you don't like the 100's of new IRS agents, the 1,000's of new regulators and paper pushers and the 1,000's of new staff for the congress critters or all the jobs created in the White House?

Something like the policies implemented in Bush's first 42 months in office, with republican congress?

I guess, that is why we saw lack of economic growth and employment in the 1990s.

I'm assuming you also believe it was republicans who were strongly opposed to it. And that won't surprise me either.

NOONE can. Debate the exact cause. Im betting it is the internet blogosphere created "Im more pure liberal/conservative" e-contests combined with ultra fine controlled congressional districts creating hyper liberal/conservative districts... Politics has gone from the loser admitting defeat and preparing for the next contest to the loser having a temper tantrum and doing everything to destroy the other and get nothing done. Imagine if the Dems in congress in 1981 had the mega snit the GOP has today...

The poisonousness can be shown in this little gem below:

>Saving the world from depression? You get funnier and funnier. He has practically single handidly destroyed this country with his communist ways. You want to live in Cuba, go for it, but don't bring it here..<

One of the following is true and believe it or dont Im hoping it is number 1. Note I have seen hundreds of similar statements from MANY posters and some of them from the LEFT.
1) This poster is simply using a ton of hyperbole.
2) This poster actually believes the US has been destroyed, the president is a communist and the US now resembles Cuba. The sheer scope of the fallacy here means someone is voting with delusions that clearly indicate they should not be let outside unsupervised, let alone be allowed to vote.

Simply this: the parties have become so rigid and self serving that nothing is likely to get done. Citizens United will only amplify this 100 fold. The crazies on both sides are unfortunately the ones who vote the most, volunteer the most, and give the most money. (besides billionaires making their own PACs)

The jobs are gone. They are not coming back.
Most stood around and did nothing for 20 years watching everyone elses job get offshored, one industry at a time.
Now yours is gone and you lament. You want them back.

Well we can't compete. Our labor costs are not even in the realm of trying to compete now.
And you still buy the imported crap so business has no reason to bring them back do they ?
They are still making their profits. You buy the imported crap and then ask "where are the jobs" ?
The jobs are in other countries, that's where they are.

The only jobs left that won't get offshored are those that require physical presence. So if you're smart you'll go land yourself a job that cannot be offshored.

We haven't been a producer nation for a while and some think we'll just go back overnight ?
Sure we're up there in exports..exports of raw commodities.

We cannot produce goods here and export them because few people could afford to buy them in the emerging countries.
So US companies build them there where emerging middle class people can buy them at their salaries.

I agree with you Back to NE, the banks caused this disaster and they need to be regulated hard, because they've shown that they can't be trusted to regulate themselves.
Then why did Obama promise to do something that he couldn't, which would be to create 7 million jobs while campaigning in 2008?

Quote:
President Obama often comes under attacks from Republicans for his failure to deliver on promises of new jobs that he made as a candidate in 2008. Democrats blame the economic crisis for reaching further than previously envisioned. In these seven videos from 2008 the President promises that he will created seven million new jobs in green energy and construction.
