You tell 'em, Steve!

“The Mitch McConnells and John Boehners and Eric Cantors just can’t seem to help themselves. These guys and their right-wing supporters regard deep pockets like Christy Walton and Sheldon Adelson the way little girls regard Justin Bieber … which is to say, with wide eyes, slack jaws, and the drool of adoration dripping from their chins.”

Stephen King Weighs In | The Baseline Scenario

"I guess some of this mad right-wing love comes from the idea that in America, anyone can become a Rich Guy if he just works hard and saves his pennies. Mitt Romney has said, in effect, 'I'm rich and I don't apologise for it.' Nobody wants you to, Mitt."

"That it's not fair to ask the middle class to assume a disproportionate amount of the tax burden."

Agreed, and the only way to avoid that is to reduce federal spending dramatically.

The trillion plus annual deficits Democrats have created must end.

Dems created? wow! try coming back to reality.

Seems obvious to em but the war was Bush's creation. as was the Wall street give away.

Historically, Democrats spend far less than their Repug counterparts... based on Forbes Obama is the lowest

sorry facts just don't support your nonsense.

The fantasy that Conservatives hold out that you could be rich too and you don't want high taxes is nothing but a lie. Its like telling the black community don't hold basket ball players to the same laws as the rest of us or make them pay more in taxes because you too could be a player if you just work hard.

The truth is 99% of most of us will never be rich like Romney or Limbaugh. No mater how hard we work and no one works as hard as the single mom who maybe does two or three jobs and raises her child, do you really think Limbaugh sitting at a table ranting his swill hate speech for three hours a day is really work worth millions? Its only because he has millions of fat white hate filled people who listen that will also hear how to buy gold because the end of the world is coming that he can command that kind of money, but he is not worth that. He is just the cult of hates current pick to champion their cause.

If you really think because you make even 100k a year you are one of them you have deluded yourself, you are not one of them and they do not give a rip if your mother gets Medicare to save her life or social security to put food on the table. They play to your silly "be and individual self sufficient person" fantasy that you go home in your Chevy truck and think because once a year you go hunting and have some beans saved up in blue barrels and some guns you are "self sufficient". You have bought into the big lie.

The idea you are some mountain man who although you live in a suburban home or maybe even have a couple of acres and a goat you are self sufficient. You are not and never will be. Unless you go into the wild and survive with nothing but your bear hands and make your one cloths you are not self sufficient. Most of you are like the guy or woman who is a fat blubber but who sits on the couch and sees them self and some kind of Adonis that is a sex machine but needs 3 little blue pills to even get it up because your veins are plugged with a all that beef fat you drink like water. Its a fantasy and you ain't self sufficient.

I never thought I'd see someone have an orgasm over political drivel from Stephen King.

That's a load, alright!

I'll put Stephen King right up there with Jimmy (JJ) Walker. They have their opinions (don't we all have one?), and I don't know exactly how their opinions can hold any influence over anyone.

Same goes for Ayn Rand, yet some want to base an economic system on that particular fiction.

'Nuff said.

There are no good arguments for low taxes on the rich. Conservatives claim that it is better for all of us. There is no evidence for this. There was far greater prosperity when tax-rates were twice what they are today.

Cons also claim that the rich need low taxes to invest, as if only investment matters and not going to work everyday does. Besides, the rich were not shy about investing when tax-rates were higher. Worse is the con argument that the rich deserve low tax-rates because they produce so much. The economic downturn should be proof enough that this is false. The people making billions on Wall Street caused a world-wide economic collapse that made everyone poorer (except themselves.)

Basically, all conservative arguments for low taxes on the rich are fallacious excuses. There is no economic evidence that lowering taxes for the last 11 years has produced a more robust economy and prosperity than the periods that had higher taxes.

Those that say that all taxes should be lowered and we should dramatically cut spending are really saying that we should lower taxes on the top earners and cut Medicare, Social Security and Medicaid, because those with Defense, are the largest spending areas.

Oh, and that's exactly what Romney wants to do as he supports the Ryan budget that does just that. This is also the effect of Romney's tax proposals:

Quote:
Now, this is only for the specifics Romney has announced; he claims that he will make up for the large revenue losses under his plan (Obama gains revenue) by closing loopholes. But he refuses to say which, and the clear reality is that he’s talking through his hat. Meanwhile, Romney also proposes severe cuts in Medicaid, and his party wants big cuts in other safety-net programs.

So like it or not, we have an election in which one candidate is proposing a redistribution from the top — which is currently paying lower taxes than it has in 80 years — downward, mainly to lower-income workers, while the other is proposing a large redistribution from the poor and the middle class to the top.

So the next time someone tut-tuts about “class warfare”, remember that the class war is already happening, in real policy — with the top .01 percent on offense.
