Do you know what an assault weapon really is Bob? Please tell us.

An Ar-15 is NOT an assault weapon. It is not an automatic.

That's nice. Like the Dirty Harry reference too. Not really relevant, but it's cute.

We'll just agree to disagree on the feasibility of several CCWers simultaneously plugging the untrained military type wannabe who's openly displaying himself front and center in the theater.

I have not heard a rational explanation why anyone other than the authorities has a need. To me, arming a bunch of wanna be cowboys, is not rational.

In this case I see a few photos that I question, the below linked being a prime example:

James Holmes Identified As Alleged Aurora, Colorado Theater Shooter That Left 12 Dead (PHOTOS, LIVEBLOG)

Scroll about 1/3 down to slide show and look at #21.

Those opposed to Huff Post as a source, please note the Photo credit: AP Photo/Ed Andrieski

The MSM, be it Huff or Fox or whoever, must be watched carefully for video and photo deception- not to mention the spoken and printed word. Whatever we think we know about this tragic event has likely been filtered and embellished by the tabloid media. All of these type events seem to follow a certain "script" and up the ante on fear of the common places and events we attend.

It might be that we will hear as little about this perpetrator as we have about Loughner once the initial shock wears off and we move on- that is, the MSM moves on........ and we follow. I do not think Holmes will have a forum for his grievances or causes and (IMO strangely) the trials for this type of mass shooting event are never televised like other murder trials of note, such as O.J. and Casey Anthony, even though there is national interest and would attract a huge TV audience. Citing respect for victims does not work- there are victims in all murder cases, so why televise any of them or just certain types of them?
WTH are you talking about?

Is there any proof that at least some people inside the theater weren't armed? It seems likely that some were; concealed carry is very common across Colorado.

But in a situation like that, most people are going to be in a state of confusion, and the natural reaction will not be to stand up in the line of fire to try and figure out:

A. Where the shooter is located

B. Whether it is possible to shoot at the shooter without wounding or killing people with your own deadly crossfire

These things aren't easy even for professionals, as we can see from military and LEO friendly-fire incidents.

Who are the "authorities" and why do they have a need?
