ABC News Admits 'Incorrectly' Linking Tea Party to Mass Murder in Colorado | NewsBusters.org

[LEFT]Three hours after reporter Brian Ross attempted to connect a mass killing in Colorado to the Tea Party, ABC News admitted that the story on Good Morning America was "incorrect." The retraction was added to the top of an existing online article about the murders.

The story conceded, "An earlier ABC News broadcast report suggested that a Jim Holmes of a Colorado Tea Party organization might be the suspect, but that report was incorrect." [Update: Ross has now admitted his error on live ABC coverage. See video and more updates below.]

I stated it already, they should both be fired. Immediately. They knew exactly what they were doing, and just hoped it was true when the reported it. Most of all, they just wanted to plant that seed, and they did exactly that. This was no accident.

Journalism is dead folks. And its high time people start getting canned for betraying the trust of the public who they are supposed to be looking out for.

Ross knew it was an error from the beginning. No apology covers it. You completely failed at journalism. You went against some of the core values of journalism, all for your own personal agenda.

Luckily for ABC, they are seen as liberal and what they did didnt attack a left wing group or minority. If they had, we would hear from NAACP, Sharpton, and the long list of regulars. Someone's head would roll if that were the case.

The Main stream media (ABC, CBS and MSN) are desparate enough to attempt anything to try & discredit
the Tea Party. They came up with the same BS after the shooting in Tucson AZ, if I remember right. The
amazing thing is that they even bothered with a retraction.

Thanks for the tip, I'll check the movie out.

Initial reports after JFK was assassinated suggested 'right-wing violence'. This is nothing new.

How did they link him to the tea party so fast? Did they purposely go looking for a link to them or to the Republicans? It seems like they almost had to. They probably thought it was a real coo to put that information out. Sickening.

It seems they have all the TEA party leaders' names in each state memorized. Probably looking into all their records to dig up dirt on them already. How else can they jump so fast when something like this happens?

Why can't he sue? If I were him, I would look into it for sure.

I must echo other comments. I believe this was done on purpose. He does not deserve to be, nor should he be, in journalism. He has failed his duties and for the worst of reasons. He let his personal political agenda allow him to deceive the public. He should be fired and sued.
