One of the funniest thing I find about people like you, is you say you're standing vigilant against a tyrannical gov't, yet you do your damnedest to make sure that our gov't is THE MOST POWERFUL in the world. Do you not see how you're shooting yourself in the foot w/ that absurd logic?

And people on your side want a larger government and a weaker populace.

lol... pray to God that US gov't never "loses" to its citizens. There wouldn't be enough graveyards for that outcome.

People have the right to vote but there are laws around voting correct and politicians are pushing to make those laws more strict correct?

What is the difference in having the right to bear arms but having more strict laws around it?

The 2nd amendment, protects the entire constitution. It protects the nation against ALL forms to control freedom, both foreign & domestic, to retain our individual liberty.

When this was written there was no semi automatic, automatic, assualt rifles. They did not know of mental cases and stress of modern day life.

Guns are designed to kill so are swords.. Only knives are designed for cutting vegetables.

I know we just use some tragedy to beat up pro and anti gun rights people. But isn't it time to talk?
You're right that when this was written there were no semi-automatic "modern sporting rifles" or fully automatic assault rifles, no sub-machine guns, no machine guns, etc. etc...

However, when this was written the Kentucky rifle was the most deadly and accurate small arm in the world and it was more widely owned (on a per-capita basis) than any civilian-legal firearm today. If you had a Kentucky rifle, you were better armed than the rank-and-file British military.

In that sense, the purpose of the 2nd Amendment was not to perpetuate the right of citizens to keep and bear muzzle-loading, black powder firearms with a rate of fire in the low single digits per minute - it was really to ensure that citizens could arm themselves as well as the government armed its infantry.

No, it's not time to change anything. You are entitled to have an emotional reaction to unspeakably horrible events like the Sandy Hook shooting (we all did, I'm sure), but the actual fact remains that there is a negative correlation between rates of gun-ownership and rates of violent crime and, in spite of what most people seem to believe and hold as gospel, the trend of massacre-style shootings in the United States has actually been DOWNWARD over the last sixty years.
