Oh, I don't think it's going to crash. I think people will come to their senses long before that, and realize that SS is just a floor, and slippery one, at that.

As you and I have.

Why would she raise taxes on the middle class? The other 2 have more than enough to pay for reforms anyway. Bringing up the middle class is a sure-fire way to scare them to vote for you. The politics of fear which is not going to work anymore!

It's so funny that Republicans "care" about the Middle Class. They like to talk the talk but can't walk the walk because they are out to destroy the Middle Class.

Because that's usually the first thing liberals do when they are in power.

(Most) Republicans do care about the Middle Class. That's why Bush passed two tax cuts. How many tax cuts did Clinton pass?

I would doubt that they have this as a formal, stated objective. It is more likely a by-product of what is their formal, stated objective: to enrich and empower the already rich and powerful. This latter credo echoes through the actions, words, and writings of the neocons like no other...

pft, tax cuts didn't do that much for middle class. Not enough. And trying to say bush is helping middle class is just flat out wrong.

Reflecting degrees of sophistication rarely seen on the right, one assumes that tax cuts, no matter how cravenly crafted, are a boon to the middle class, and tax increases, no matter how cleverly crafted, the opposite.

What if we had a 0% tax rate?

Revenues would soar, right? Tax cuts always raise revenue.

Yes, but who would pay for all those Congressional fact-finding missions to the Virgin Islands?

Default That Darn Bush is ruining the economy!

Bush is not ruining the economy........we are now in a world economy. The U.S. is not the heavy player it once was in days gone by, so forget about that super power stuff...its over!! Bush has made the U.S. the butt of jokes all over the world...Its a shame we are in the mess we're in.
China's economy is going through changes that will either make/break our economy through trade. We have given away our industrial base, our healthcare mess threatens our demise. We have opted to become a thrid world economy with no middle class, only rich and very poor. I don't think we should blame Bush, he doesn't know or care whats going on anyway. He's anxiously awaiting to go back to that Texas sxxx hole of which he crawled out of. Blame those idiots in Washington DC!!
