Greenspan: Truth Speaking Genius or Money Grubbing TurnCoat?
Niether. He's a politician. He should have been saying these things when he was Fed Chairman, not after he left that position. If he was critical of the Bush administration's fiscal irresponsibility, then he should have said so when he was in a position to help improve the situation.
But I suppose it sells more books to do it this way. So Greenspan makes a tidy little personal profit while the rest of us have to pay for the economic mess which he helped create with his silence.
Actually, the democrats set the current budget, and just voted to increase the national deficit by $850 BILLION dollars..
So picky about Greenspan and so loose on this one! The 53-42 vote was to increase the debt limit. Has nothing to do with either the budget or the deficit, except as that the increase in the debt limit was necessary to accommodate the additional significant deficits that will be run up under any budget that is capable of passage. As an FYI, Senate Democrats voted 25-21 in favor of the increase, and Republicans by 27-20. The two Independents split...
Simply one more responsible Republican who cannot be with them any more.
Nor can I.
If you saw any of the interviews with Greenspan last week, he emphasized that he would be voting Republican again in 2008, as he has in every election.
He's over 21 and has all of his marbles, after all.

I'd have to be very well convinced that whoever they fielded was a complete break with the policies of the First Frat Boy. What a complete disaster this administration is, they made true all the lies the Left made up about the Great Communicator.
What we could use is the Gipper Pt. II, if the GOP can't find one, I'm going with the donkey party in '08.

haha, do you not realise you cant increase the debt limit, without changing budgets.. How else are you going to make payments on that debt. You dont just borrow money and then not pay it back, and you surely dont vote to increase the limit unless your planning to use it.. Perhapse for "healthcare" proposals or $5,000 bribes for votes for Hillary for every kid who's born..

And wealthy enough not to be "bought" with promises of $5,000 grants for having babies..
"We ought to be opening up our borders to skilled labor from all parts of the world because if we were to do that we would increase the supply of skilled workers that our schools have been unable to create and as a consequence of that we would lower the average wage of skills and reduce the degree of income inequality in this country."

Brought to you by none other than Alan Greenspan
Isnt that one thing Bush is trying to do, but he keeps getting criticized..
According to Greenspan (I have the book) budget discipline "gave up the ghost" on September 30th, 2002 when Congress allowed the anti deficit law to expire. Greenspan warned congress "if we do not preserve the budet rules and reaffirm our commitment to fiscal responsibility, years of hard effort will be squandered. ... "History suggests that an abandonment of fiscal discipline will eventually push up interest rates, crowd out capital spending , lower productivity ..." Congress did not listen to Greenspan.
The PP poster mentioned Greenspan would vote Republican. On Sixty Minutes he said "I tend to vote Republican". When he was interviewed by Terri Gross on NPR he said, "I may not vote at all."
