A real hunting weapon is a bolt-action rifle, or sidelock double-rifle - not a semi-automatic, or automatic firearm designed for military application.

Wrong.

AR variants chambered in 308 and other calibers are very popular for hunting.

Both of these shoot the same round, but OMG!!!!! 1 looks scarier than the other, BAN IT!!!!!!!!

No. That is a military weapon, not a hunting weapon.

It would help greatly if you had at least a basic knowledge of the topic at hand before choosing to comment on something.

The 2nd rifle pictured is a Remington 700 chambered in 308. The 700 is the platform on which the majority of the military's sniper rifles are built on, so by definition it is a military weapon as well.

Lol grow up.

Bolt action design rifles were first produced, and heavily used, for military engagements, not for hunting. I have several in my collection that were used in combat, i.e. Mausers, Mosin Nagants, and Enfields. Bolt action rifles are still used in military and police applications, as several here have referenced.

You don't need a semi-automatic weapon (in whatever calibre) to hunt. Semi-automatic weapons (and full-automatic weapons) are for military application - not civilian use.

You have already proven an astounding ignorance on the topic at hand, so your determination of what you think people need and dont need is irrelevant.

Simply admit the fact you hate guns, no need to disguise it anymore.

Incidentally, you should try reading the 2nd Amendment some time, It doesnt say citizens can keep and bear only certain types of arms.

It doubtful you have ever read it, let alone know the actual purpose of it. It sure as hell isn't about hunting.

You have a hunting license? Fine, you're allowed to purchase the appropriate weapon for what you hunt. You have a business and/or home you want to protect? Fine, you're allowed to purchase any handgun you wish for your protection. As for large high powered assualt rifles? Dont see why any one average joe has the need to own several of them unless you're trying to compensate for your size down below so that you can fire off shots while yelling ....Yeeeehaaaawwwww because it makes you feel "powerful".

So what if someone has 100 guns? Its not like they can carry or use 100 guns at a time so having 100 guns isn't going to make things more deadly. Your reference and slander to "beer drinking hillbillies" shows your bias and anti-gun true nature.

Define assault weapon.

Lets hear what you think an actual assault weapon is.

I am an expert on small arms. I am also an expert on Constitutional law - having qualified as an expert witness in civil and criminal proceedings in state and federal courts.

You do not know what you are talking about; which is obvious by your responses.

Get smart. Read up on the law. It is the law that governs your rights.
