Like Cory Booker who criticized the President for saying bad things about Bain and then mysteriously walked it back, now Dianne Feinstein, the chair of the Senate Intelligence Committee, who was candid about where the security leaks were coming from (The White House) is walking back this statement:

"I think the White House has to understand that some of this is coming from their ranks. I don’t know specifically where, but I think they have to begin to understand that and do something about it.”

Feinstein Comments on National Security Leaks Emerge as Campaign Issue - ABC News

That was then, this is now:

“I stated that I did not believe the president leaked classified information,” Feinstein said in the statement on Tuesday. “I shouldn’t have speculated beyond that, because the fact of the matter is I don’t know the source of the leaks.”

Feinstein backtracks on statement that White House leaked secrets - The Hill's DEFCON Hill

What do you think? Someone threatened to take away her prestigious committee chair? Someone threatened no campaign money? Someone threatened to Vince Foster her? It wasn't an aside in casual conversation or an offhand remark to some reporter. Her original statement was made in front of a microphone.

Information leaks aren't anything new. Reagan complained about them. "White House Leaks Aggravate Reagan."

Lets not also forget the Watergate Leaks that brought down Nixon.

Oh no you have to understand that doesn't fit the view that this President is the first to have anything and everything go wrong because don't you realize that he........just doesn't belong there

White House leaks occur, and it casts a very bad light on the sitting President. Bad timing for Obama.

I think the OP is questioning the tactics used to quiet the White House Leaks trumpeters.. not the fact that white house leaks exist... Their point is that if you say something negative about the White House, you will get a visit from the men in coats... it doesn't matter if your bad mouthing about white house leaks or how the President is handling the economy of if the lawn needs to mowed.. bad mouth the white house, get a visit..

I don't think the point of the OP was that leaks never occured before. I think they were trying to point out how those within the Dem party, who don't tow the party line, are being treated and how they back track on their statements.

Although this too has happened in probably every presidency. *shrug*

Yes Reagan didnt like them.

There is no evidence that Obama has an issue with these leaks.

interesting you should bring that up. the Plame leak was not a leak covered by any statute. She was not covert. Had not been covert for more than 5 years and no one was hurt by the act... except Scooter Libby who should not have even been questioned in the first place.

In this case, An actual covert agen (Pakistani Dr. that helped us get Bin Ladin) has been arrested because of the leaked information and will spend life in prison in a Pakistani jail. God only knows what other damage was done to boost Obamas cred.

You might as well be saying ants and elephants are the same because the both have feet.
