Interesting read. Not surprising either.

Now that's funny. The Blaze, a Glenn Beck internet mouthpiece, quoting Campus Reform.org about some group they define as activist.

Well, let's see about Campus Reform. From their own website:

CampusReform.org is designed to provide conservative activists with the resources, networking capabilities, and skills they need to revolutionize the struggle against leftist bias and abuse on college campuses.

Created to give conservatives powerful new weapons in their fight for the hearts and minds of the next generation of citizens, politicians, and members of the media, CampusReform.org facilitates the establishment of conservative student networks and supports their development as a powerful voice of activism on their campuses. It makes available new opportunities for groups’ interaction with alumni, parents, faculty, and other members of the broader community interested in taking a stand for conservative principles on America’s college campuses.

Connecting up-to-date communications technologies to a principled stand for limited government, the free market, national defense, and traditional values, CampusReform.org makes possible a new generation of student activism to identify, expose, and combat the radical left now.

Mission

Campus Reform is a part of the Leadership Institute:

Established in 1979, the Leadership Institute seeks to increase the number and effectiveness of conservative activists across the country. To do that, LI identifies, recruits, trains, and places conservatives in government, politics, and the media, enrolling more than 90,000 students in its unique programs since its inception.

These students learn the expertise necessary to flourish in positions of influence in public policy. No other organization can give you so many skills for public policy and personal success.

Under the direction of its founder and president Morton Blackwell, the Leadership Institute has become the premier training ground for tomorrow's conservative leaders. Conservative leaders, organizations, and activists rely on the Institute's seminars and workshops for the preparation they require for victory in the world of public policy.

In addition to conducting programs nationwide, the Institute helps conservatives launch their careers. LI's Employment Placement Service and Intern Program can open doors to an exciting array of opportunities to further the conservative movement.

About the Leadership Institute

In other words, it's a group of right-wing subversives out to take over the country. By their own admission!

Research the background of the Leadership Institute and you'll find all the familiar, right wing elitist characters involved somehow or another.

They just want more free money. I been looking up scholarships at certain schools as my kid is getting close to that age and it's obscene the amount of "diversity" scholarships and the like with lower criteria that they all hand out.

They reject assimilation and refuse to call themselves Mexican-Americans.
Doesn't sound too patriotic to me.

National MEChA .:|:. About Us
Adamant rejection of the label "Mexican-American" meant rejection of the assimilation and accommodationist melting pot ideology that had guided earlier generations of activists

"The Mexican-American (Hispanic) is a person who lacks respect for his/her cultural and ethnic heritage. Unsure of her/himself, she/he seeks assimilation as a way out of her/his "degraded" social status. Consequently, she/he remains politically ineffective. In contrast, Chicanismo reflects self-respect and pride on one's ethnic and cultural background. Thus, the Chicana/o acts with confidence and with a range of alternatives in the political world. She/he is capable of developing an effective ideology through action" (El Plan de Santa Barbara).

They don't seem to be a very nice group, but I don't know where Beck and company are getting their information. I can find nothing about it anywhere that isn't another repeat of the Campus Reform claim, which so far is unsubstantiated.

What I DID find is the UCLA budget for this year. It shows a donation to that group of $7205.10, a far cry from $100,000 and not out of line with what many other student groups get.
