I think the more likely case is that liberals sometimes don't even realize they are liberals, and believe themselves to be conservatives. And these are the most confused liberals of all.

As for myself I do consider myself a market oriented moderate who leans left on some social issues. The current GOP and right wing fringe movement known as the Tea Party has moved me a little more to the left or enough that I wouldn't consider voting for a right wing candidate because the moderate conservatives have been voted out.

If anyone isn't sure they could try out this test:

The Political Compass - Test

It has some loaded questions, but it's fairly accurate and two dimensional.

I think your poll is answering your question. Mostly right-wingers here. Worth visiting though as once in a while there will be an interesting, thought-provoking post and/or topic.

This picture alone sums up EVERY conservative and republican on this board:

This Independent/Moderate just laughs at the liberals and democrats.

Both sides are equally insane. I just find it hilarious.

Personally libertarian, the forum seems to be more conservative to me.

I have since concluded that the birthers have no evidence for their claims. The fact that you consider me a liberal just because I don't buy your story about the presidents' birth only shows that you are an extremist. You and the other birthers are hurting the conservative cause - and that is why true conservatives have left you out in the cold - because your conspiracy theories have become a liability.

President Obama was born in Honolulu, HI on 8/4/61 - and he is eligible to be president. Now drop the birther gig and concentrate your efforts on getting him thrown out of office this November. Join the conservative effort - leave the fringies behind.
Please already .... we have had hundreds of independent assessments of that bogus document .... with detailed video step by step dissection of it showing the dozens of clear elements of manipulation that even a child should be able to grasp, including professional Law Enforcement folks experienced in document forensics .... but you see no evidence?

What we have is a nation of nitwits .... on one side we have these dreadfully disturbed liberals who proudly wave their socialist banners who would find a way to rationalize Obama BBQing children on the White House lawn, and on the other side, we have an equally clueless group who believe that their big spending, war mongering, government expanding republican party are the "conservative" saviors.

Then we have a small but growing group of "thinking" Americans who recognize this game of one side being played against the other, which are called conspiracy theorists by both groups. It's the only thing you agree on, but not the only thing you have in common. Both sides share one other commonality ... everything you believe is true is actually false, while being 100% convinced you are correct.

A Democrat who's more moderate on social issues. Someone who will sell out on their social beliefs and vote Dem to get their economic Socialism.

Sometimes I can't take seeing all the left wing talking points so I leave the board for awhile Then I get an email from C-D reminding me that I'm getting responses on my posts. Then I come back,C-D knows what they are doing with those emails!

You seem to be suggesting that there is something to the birther claims - if you really think that President Obama is not eligible to be president - then why not share your thoughts on the subject - because everything I have studied demonstrates that the birthers are wrong.

The problem with liberalism is that there are so many flavors of it. The one constant that continually rears it's ugly head is the desire to push the ideology, the party lie. Look how horrible the great recession has been and is continuing to be. Not ONCE have you heard Obama say his plan isn't working, that he's going to change direction, even though it's obvious to anyone paying attention. He has claimed that "it's getting better at a slow pace, but it's moving in the right direction" or "it's still Bush's fault" The arrogance to deny failed policy at the height of said failure, is mind-boggling to me. People in here keep defending his/their policies, knowing full well they will continue to increase the debt with no ROI, and marginal economic results.

I wouldn't want to admit that I strive for mediocrity either.
