Wouldn't say CNN, this is a writer's personal opinion. I did notice he made no mention of what Muslims teach their children about Jews. So according to this writer, we should ignore the actions of Muslims on 6 of the 7 continents in the past week, the killing in the name of their religion going back over 40 years, and the threats of and execution of those they feel insults their religion across the world? I don't think so.
I just read the article. The author, Brian D. McLaren, is right about the distortions that happen sometimes, and about the gullibility of some people when it comes to the facts. But he's wrong to single out evangelicals. This happens across the board, and if anything it's mainstream establishment pundits like him who have bought the bigger lies about Islam. The crucifixion stories, though false, were nevertheless believable because crucifixion is a punishment prescribed by sharia law for apostasy, and the practice has seen a revival among Muslims in Sudan.
And let's not forget the lies and blasphemies that are embedded in the Islamic religion itself. I understand the occasional need to overlook such things for political purposes, but if a Christian man isn't viscerally revolted by the blasphemous content of Islam, he's probably not the most objective judge of Christians who occasionally succomb to urban legends.
It is not that CNN sides with Islam, it is that CNN sides against the US. It does not matter who is the enemy of the US, CNN will support them over the US. For example, CNN was more than happy to provide useful information to Iraq on where their Scuds were landing during the 1991 Gulf War. The more Americans that died, the happier CNN was.
This is a common anti-American attitude among liberal freaks.
Many of my own relatives receive and forward pious-sounding and alarm-bell-ringing e-mails that trumpet (IN LOTS OF CAPITAL LETTERS WITH EXCLAMATION POINTS!) the evils of Islam, that call their fellow evangelicals and charismatics to prayer and “spiritual warfare” against those alleged evils, and that often - truth be told - contain lots of downright lies."

thats funny. I do remember a reporter riding with the soldiers through the desert as they approached Baghdad live on national tv as the war was beginning. Nothing like telling the enemy you're coming..... I never understood that.

yeah....instead of prayer "we" as Christians should resort to violence.
