That was also Canada's goal.

But, Canada's Supreme Court ruled that: "access to a waiting list is not access to healthcare"

New York Times:

Yes, the nightmare scenario that many warned about is going to come to pass. There is also the prospect of thousands of doctors leaving the profession once Obamacare takes effect -- unwilling to deal with reduced Medicare payments and red tape.

And what is true today will be true in a few years when Obamacare takes effect: If you're rich enough to afford a gold plated policy, you will likely have no trouble finding a physician to treat you. Health care for the average American is not going to get better, it is going to get worse. And we have Obamacare to thank for that.

Yeah, that's a real good reason to deny health care for all, NOT! Maybe, just maybe, the US can increase the number of med school graduates. There is no shortage of qualified applicants.

I'm from Canada and I've never been on a waiting list, nor have the relatives I've spoken to about the system. No system is perfect but the one in the US is broken. Great doctors and hospitals overall but who can afford them? Are you going to take care of your people or just feather your own nests?

If Obama has his way, education will be pre-determined by government. One may want to be a nurse but if the government finds that the numbers show that there will be a need for more tour guides, then a tour guide one shall be.

'Patient Lottery' in Gander, NF Will Provide Better Care for Almost 2,000 Residents

In May of this year, the community of Gander, NF elected to hold a 'lottery' style selection of patients for two newly arrived Family Physicians. Although innovative, this approach is unlikely to help in solving a worsening shortage of doctors nationwide.

Gander is a small rural community of approximately 10,000 residents on the northeast coast of Newfoundland, Canada. While normally highlighted by travel magazines for its rugged coastline and small-town charm, it received national attention earlier this year for an odd response to the addition of two new GP's – Dr. Amanda Scott and Dr. Celine Dawson – to their local medical clinic. The call rang out that a 'lottery' would be held, patients queued for hours, at the end 4,000 names were entered into the draw—an astounding 40% of the population.

...and in Ontario:

Need A Doctor? Better Win the Lottery

5 million Canadians have no primary care physicians
5 year waiting list to get a primary care physician!!

Those Doctors are are in health care for the wrong reason, Good luck to them, there will be others in the profession that will happily replace them.

Does the AMA or any of the other associations in the medical industry have anything to do with how many people are licensed to become Doctors like a certain quota to keep the demand for Doctors high??

Maybe you should re-read the article by the Liberal-leaning NY Times again.

It takes 10 years to create a doctor. 2014 is 2 years away. And, we are ALREADY short on doctors.

But you instead say something idiotic like "doctors are in health care for the wrong reason"

Doctor Shortage Likely to Worsen With Health Law (That's the title of the article.)

Those two words don't mean the same thing. Nice, misleading thread title, yet again.
Some would call it trolling. Oh well, troll away. What's next? Obama re-election is the end of days?

PS. There's not enough doctors now, there won't be enough, then - unless we import some.

Is THAT the BEST you've got as a rebuttal to what this article says?

Please...whatever you do don't let the facts interfere with your Obama Worshiping!
