Fantastic, I can play the liberals game. (yes, I believe those numbrs are wrong)

Dems are against jobs.

Dems don't care about the working middle class.

If it creates just 1 job (saves 1 child) it is worth it.

I could go on.

Truth is the bill Obama vetoed would have allowed the pipeline to be approved without the usual administrative review. Dollars to donuts says that if Trans-Canada is serious about building it that it'll go through the process and be approved with stipulations; Say like prohibiting the use of eminent domain. Regardless, I think this whole thing was political theatre and a huge payday for lobbyist.

Even if this did stop the pipeline for good, what is the loss to the US? A foreign owned pipeline built with Chinese steel on land taken through eminent domain, operated by Canadian/German built pumps, that delivers oil to a free-trade zone where it'll be refined and shipped to Asia for manufacturing purposes? What does America get for that other than some non-prevailing wage construction jobs and a couple of dozen operations jobs?

Well that would all be great if you were even half right.

There has been no less than two reviews already commissioned and resulting in approval while stating no increased environmental impact by the U.S. State department over the course of 6 years of dithering on this. There was and is no further review scheduled, just Obama's signing off on the bill. He's done the politically expedient thing he's noted worldwide for doing ~ NOTHING!

Instead, what he's vetoed is a deal that would see the more environmentally safe method of transporting that crude via pipelines rather than by less environmentally safe and far more dangerous to human life rail as is currently being done.

What he vetoed was simply the method of transport, not the sale to American companies that own the American refineries that were upgraded to handle specifically this crude.

What he vetoed was that section of pipe crossing over/under the border ONLY and not the part of the pipeline using eminent domain all the way from the border to the gulf coast.

His veto will have no effect on the American Bakken field already putting it's crude into that very pipe along with Canada crude.

His veto will have no effect on the Ogallala aquifer as that section was already objected to and subsequently re-routed and built about two years ago with all of the hoopla that went with that.

His veto has nothing whatsoever to do with the fact that it is, and always was AMERICAN companies (primarily Valero and Mobile/Exxon) pushing this as the crude gets paid for and ceases to be Canadian crude the second it goes into the pipe; not after it gets upgraded and sold overseas by those AMERICAN entities.

Those pumps in those multitude of required pumping stations, need maintenance and constant monitoring of pressures and who do you suppose is performing that little job....AMERICANS!

That pipe will need routine maintenance and inspection and who do you suppose would be performing those jobs......AMERICANS!

Honestly, Canada or any other country would be foolish to do business with an American company. At least on any project involving the approval of the US government. Our current administration is set on destroying jobs in this country, and is doing a rather good job at it. If they can take down our allies/neighbors (well, unless they are Hispanic ones), so much the better. Gotta do what we can to make sure the Islamic nations keeps their profits up on oil exports now.

Even if you feel that a pipeline is safer than trains, which I'd agree with if this wasn't tar sands we're talking about. And if you think that it's going to create all kinds of permanent jobs, which it won't. Why are Republicans all about defending a project that can only be completed by using eminent domain for the benefit of a private entity? When did Freedom Lovers (tm) change their minds on Kelo vs. New London?

Burning tar sands a fuel source more dirty than coal is a great way for us to become
the next China that is fast becoming uninhabitable from all the pollution.

The Keystone Pipeline project was expected to create tens of thousands of high paying jobs in the oil industry.

The project itself would create 20,000 construction jobs. And the pipeline would bring oil from Canada and North Dakota to refineries in the United States.

Obama rejected the plan.

Now China and Canada are finalizing a $15.1 billion oil deal.

Breitbart reported:
When President Barack Obama blocked the Keystone Pipeline, Republicans said the move would encourage Canada to pursue oil deals with China instead of the United States and cede a massive chunk of North American oil assets to the communist nation.

Now, with China’s state-run oil company CNOOC poised to cut a $15.1 billion deal–the largest ever foreign acquisition for a Chinese company–with Canadian oil company Nexen, Sen. Charles Schumer (D-NY) and Rep. Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) are in full backpedal mode.

In a draft letter to the Committee on Foreign Investment in the United States (CFIUS), Sen. Schumer writes:
I respectfully urge you, in your capacity as chairman of the Committee on Foreign Investment in the United States (CFIUS), to withhold approval of this transaction to ensure U.S. companies reciprocal treatment.
Similarly, Rep. Pelosi is now sounding alarms of concern. In a statement, Pelosi spokesperson Drew Hamill said:
This deal prompts great concern about the Chinese government’s continued attempts to use its state-owned enterprises to acquire global energy resources.
Once again, thanks to Democrats, America is getting the shaft.

But at least they kept their donors happy.

More… Chuck Schumer, who voted against Keystone, told Saudi Arabia to up its production.

The eminent domain issue is what I'm watching. Many landowners don't want to sell easements to Keystone, and I don't agree with eminent domain being used for private industry.

Try again. They have plenty of problems with it.

Even TransCanada's CEO admits that, “We’ve got to quit the little bickering that goes on between us and get to the bigger picture and let the institutions that we charge with managing the public good get on with doing their job.”

Meanwhile, the commodity rout has crimped government revenues and forced some of the world’s largest energy firms to abandon billions of dollars worth of new projects.Other major projects are facing uncertainty due to regulatory snags. Malaysia’s Petronas last year postponed a final investment decision on a natural gas-export terminal for the Pacific coast, jeopardizing as much as $36-billion in investment. And Enbridge Inc.’s Northern Gateway pipeline faces widespread opposition despite having been approved by government and regulators, subject to conditions.

TransCanada CEO says Canada needs to resolve conflicts over pipelines

You don't burn the stuff! Where in h*** did you get that idea?

It's primary purpose is to manufacture plastics, shampoos and other daily use stuff requiring petroleum based product. You like that computer you're typing away on, your cel-phone, your car bumpers, your small kitchen appliances?

It is not cost effective to refine Athabaska crude or Argentine crude to create fuel stocks...period!
