That's where I think we are right now.

Obama's election has activated the previously quiet racists and made them spittle-spewing mad. They now march in the streets and make absolutely insane accusations against a president who personifies the American dream of rising up from humble circumstances. They've exposed themselves and their racist crap as ignorant beyond all reason. And they're mostly angry, fearful old farts who won't be around after a couple more election cycles.

Then, they'll be gone and America will mature a bit more.

Who cares about closet racists when they don't represent the majority of Americans? Obama got 40% of the white vote. Most who didn't vote for him were Republicans and Republicans just don't vote for Democrats regardless of the candidate's race and vice versa. Only those who want to keep racism alive and want to make excuses for Obama's failure as a president bring race into the issue when as stated above is not the norm.

Interesting to see everyone's take on this.

I personally will be shocked if anyone thinks that race relations have actually improved since Obama was elected. If so what is your rational.

I think the racial issues in this country are more polarizing now than anytime since the Rodney King Case and the riots that followed.
It's worse because everyone who disagrees with Obama's policies or performance as president is continuously called a racist by the Democratic Party leaders, and then it all steamrolls down hill from there.

Then the Obama admin makes it worse by getting involved and picking sides in racially charged events. Obama's beer summit was all about him trying to repair the damage HE caused. The most recent was Eric Holder speaking before Al "Race Hustler" Sharpton's group in the Travon shooting, or even turning photo ID voter laws into racial issues..

It's obvious the radical right cares deeply and is largely populated by them.

Tea Party

Those keeping racism alive want everyone else to think it's gone.

As was pointed out by chicagonut the radical right does not represent the majority of white, conservatives so again just what is your point? The teaparty members are not racists either or at least most of them aren't. Your stereotyping is beyond belief.

No one is saying that racism is gone but harping about the fringe element that are racists is what is keeping racism alive. Why not dwell on the majority that are not racists? I guess because it doesn't fit yours and others agenda?

Obama is not deporting illegals. He's closing border stations and is not having immigration laws enforced. By his own admission, he's only deporting the very violent criminal types. People who should actually go to prison are simply sent home and they can turn around and come right back over.

But yes -- how can anyone look at what Obama has done for blacks and be jealous? Do you think blacks in general have been given a good deal under this presidency? He's certainly not getting them better jobs or even jobs.

What's most amazing is the undying support for liberals no matter what. So unemployment for black inner city youths is way up -- they'll vote for Obama. So what that half the college graduates cannot find jobs -- they'll vote for Obama. He doesn't even have to pretend he's going to do anything for them which is why he's out pandering to the other group -- giving them a million new work visas so they can grab up any job they like.
More with this inner city crap.

So what proof do you have that rural poverty is better than inner city poverty? What proof do you have that all blacks that live in the "inner city" are doing bad?

Do i think blacks have been given a good deal under Obama? Were they given a good deal under Bush? Under Reagan? Under Wilson? Under John Quincy Adams? You really don't realize how silly that sounds, do you? What job is the president supposed to give "inner city blacks?" Tell me...because i'd sure like to know.

And again, more deportations than any president in recent history. Sir, just because you keep saying that it isn't so won't make it that way.

Moreover, we aren't going to vote Republican. Please...give it up.

Race relations have worsened, with many racists coming out of the closet.

Default President Obama, the Divider-In-Chief

Obama has definitely made race relations worse not better, and it wouldn't surprise me if he does so purposely (such as when he publicly comments that Trayvon Martin could be his son but ignores the senseless murder of Chris Lane who also could've been his son since he's half white). Imagine the outcry if a white President had said the same. To announce racial solidarity with one group is not what a diverse America needs in a President who's supposed to represent all, not some.

Race relations plummeted since Obama took office, says poll

Nope, race relations have worsened. That's to be expected from a race-mongering and race-baiting president.

Still trying to understand why anyone gives a damn about race relations.

It's an overrated topic and debate...in addition to being stupid in nature.

How are YOUR personal race relations? That's what matters. I could care less if the races in general hate each other's guts.

There are whites (and other non blacks) that I like and dislike. There are non blacks that surely hate my guts...a few perhaps because I'm black. And frankly, I don't give a damn as long as they stay away from me.

And none of that has anything to do with Obama and everything to do with people being ignorant idiots.
