"Unbelief is on the uptick. People who check "None" for their religious affiliation are now nearly one in five Americans (19%), the highest ever documented, according to the Pew Center for the People and the Press."
Survey finds 19% without religious affiliation

As someone who has never been religious, I was very happy to read this news. We're heading in the right direction, as far as I'm concerned.

They feel the need to have an imaginary friend. Loneliness maybe.

That would be me. Raised in a Catholic family, defected from the Catholic Church, will never return

so far everyone posting here comes off as if they are superior to a religious person. I don't see a difference between you guys and the bible-thumpers who tell me I'm going to hell. You are both jerks who think they can judge other people when it comes to religion and faith.

I don't get that either.

These people complain about religion being shoved down their throats, but then they do the same thing. I wouldn't mind it as much if they were honest. Instead of saying "believe anything you want", they should just admit they don't like anything other than what they think. They'll still be jerks, but at least not hypocrites then.

Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa-MEN!!!!

19% Isn't nearly enough. We'd be a lot better off if that number were quadrupled.

Very good. Religion is not good for society.

Proud to have no belief in the supernatural.
