Former U.N. Secretary-General Kofi Annan is stepping down as the U.N.-Arab League mediator in the 17-month-old Syria conflict at the end of the month, U.N. chief Ban Ki-moon said in a statement on Thursday.
I see a lot of Repubs slamming the administration for covertly supporting the downfall of the Assad Regime. Syria has one of the largest standing armies in the middle east. They are and have been a threat to Israel for decades. They have provided a direct conduit for Hezbollah and the Iranian Republican Guards in Lebanon. The bigger picture in Syria is basicly a fight between Shiite and Sunni. Iran, a Shiite dominated nation supports Assad while the rebels are mostly Sunni and are recieving arms and support from Saudi Arabia. Of course we will provide covert support for the rebels. "The enemy of my enemy is my friend".
Wonder how closely Obama is working with the Muslim Brotherhood in Syria.
Egypt is run by them, Libya looks to be going that way, and the biggest rebel group in Syria is the Muslim Brotherhood also. You'd almost think that the Muslim Brotherhood was a staunch ally of the US.
Gotta ask yourselves; why work hand in hand to give these countries over to the Muslim Brotherhood? What's in it for him? Lecture tour of radical Mosques? Another Nobel Peace prize? Seasons tickets to the Burkha Ball?
