This is the guy the left were cheering on when he took shots at Romney. These are the fools the left supports it appears. LOL

"Businesses' takings have been hit, hotels are slashing room prices and overblown warnings of transport chaos appear to have driven tourists away.
Such concerns haven't stopped Boris Johnson, the Mayor of London, enjoying himself at a host of Olympic events, however.
Mr Johnson was spotted at the Olympic volleyball in Horse Guard's Parade yesterday, where he even posed for light-hearted pictures with excited fans.
And his public appearances continued today when he made a star turn by appearing on a zip wire above Victoria Park, although the stunt did not exactly go to plan as the London Mayor was at one point stranded above a bemused crowd.
Mr Johnson has come under increased pressure in recent days to curb his public appearances, with one political opponent suggesting it would be a 'good idea' for him to spend more time in his office as fears for London's economy persist."

Wow!!! That's priceless. Has America gone so far to the reactionary right that even the 'great right-wing hope' (an entrendes comedy act who still thinks tawdry innuendos are the pinnacle of veritable mirth) of British politics and the British Conservative Party's most right-wing, archaic buffoon of a born to rule Bullingdon boy is now branded as a simpering lefty by the Tea Party fruit loops?

Boris Johnson had to apologise for referring to black people as 'piccaninnies' and talking about 'watermelon smiles' when he visited South Africa and also suggested that South Africa may have been better off under aparthied. He is as right as it gets in UK politics. He spends all his time as mayor concocting meaningless gimmicks and is pretty much a clown act who participates in stage managed gimmicks like the above that if anything play up to his harmless japes of a calamitous but cheeky scamp and loveable stammering, jabbering Hugh Grant if he was a bit nastier and bordered on pompous disdain posh boy Oxbridge Tory image.

Apart from tokenistic gimmicks he spends all his time as mayor trying to fund schemes for his beloved and fraudulent Barclays Bank (who he ALWAYS refuses to criticise even after the latest Libel scandal) and does nothing more than spend all his hours either saddling up to Murdoch (having dinners on our tab that are not declared to the taxpayer) or singing the praises of bankers and doing everything and spending every waking hour campaigning for the destruction of organised labour and the end of corporation/income tax for multi-millionaires/billionaires.

I knew there was a section of American society whose scope was limited on the horizon of foreign affairs but this takes the biscuit. Laughing my a**e off!!!! Please, stop with the comedy. Enough!!!

Murdoch will be whipping his American subordinates into line over this one. FOX News better leave Boris alone. You don't mess with your own and you don't know who you're messing with here. Murdoch would be gobsmacked at the above post.

Better try and delete it, you won't be welcome at Tea Party rallies again until you do. You may even have your gun confiscated for being such a naughty boy. Still laughing!!!!

a bit of a correction on your assumptions. The OP did not say your baffoon of a mayor was a liberal. The OP suggested that American Liberals were in support of the baffoon because he attacked Romney. Big difference. The baffoon is proving to be a baffoon (as you rightly point out). The American Right doesnt like the baffoon because he is a baffoon... The American left however as per their usual dont really dislike baffonary so long as the baffoon sides with them. (see how that works?)

So to answer your question. No the American right has not gone off its rocker and decided that this baffoon is a liberal, lefty, commie etc. We really dont know what he is. I am willing to take your word for it. What we in the American right know is that the guy is a nut. You confirm that. The American right tend to reject nuts/flakes/crazies/racists. It is the American Left that tollerates these idiots so long as they go along with the plan.

"He who laughs last laughs best."

snicker, snicker

Now if he'd only been turned ever so slightly it would have appeared as though he had a crane stuck up his bum like a puppet on a stick.

Though I don't agree with Boris' conservative politics, it is undeniable that he is amusing, sometimes intentionally so. Pity he no longer goes on "Have I Got News for You" - he was one of the funniest guest hosts - not always intentionally.

My favorite all-time Boris quote: when somebody accused David Cameron of being homophobic, Boris responded: "He went to Eton. How homophobic can he possibly be?"

His recent attempt to boost audiences at beach volleyball, by telling the media how exciting beach volleyball is: "Beautiful women in tiny swimming suits, glistening like wet otters.."

You'll never find a group of people with thinner skin than the Romney supporters.

That must explain why Romney is most likely to get the Republican nomination.

He described his £250,000 a year salary for writing for the right-wing Telegraph (nicknamed the Torygraph) as 'chicken feed'. Real man of the people. I'm surprised him and Romney aren't kindred spirits. If Romney is a man who can't even get on with Boris then woah, alarm bells are ringing about Romney and what he may be capable of.

On the other hand I can't help but empathise with anyone who doesn't like the man. He is all that is wrong with politics irrespective of what Romney thinks. Boris became a TV personality on 'Have I Got News For You' and gets away with being an ill-informed oik who doesn't really appear to do anything but meticulously stage managed stunts or take credit for policy decisions that would have happened with or without him.

His 'cheeky scamp' persona and wisecracks win him over to the press and he escapes all scrutiny because politicians in general are dull so who cares what his policies are vote Boris because he gets up to all kinds of clownish japes and he'd be a bit of a laugh down the pub.

He's basically a gold chain mayor. The kind of tokenistic harmless symbols of ye olde mayors who pick the winning ticket out at the raffle at the Church fete and are used as a bit of eye candy for the OAP's playing bingo at the school fundraiser.

He is currently the favourite to succeed Cameron as Tory Party leader in the age of the fluffly and weightless celebrity politician. Expect to hear alot more of him. And be prepared to like him too if you are a Conservative. You may not like him now but if Romney wins and overcomes his allergy to British ecccentrics then these two will become big allies. Ideologically they are alot closer in spirit than the current Conserative leader Cameron would like to see his Conservative Party admit on camera.

Right now there's a little bit of Cameron the West Wing fan that in his most arrogant moments of contemplation still likes to see himself as a right-wing Democrat in the mould of a magnetic Martin Sheen stirriing audiences and making hairs stand on the back of necks but with all the panache of a well-heeled Bullingdon boy of aristocratic British lineage.

Neil Hannan rallied to the Republicans aid on healthcare but the Tea Party in America are very explicit about policies that Conservatives in the UK tend to sneak in under the smokescreen of Tory-lite bluster and buffering. Cameron's vision "the big society" is just a fluffy way of saying "smaller state" and popping Reaganomics back into the microwave for another round of reheating.

Alot of Conservatives don't like Cameron. And they will lurch to the right should Romney prove succesful in the American election. The British Conservatives can't afford to be seen to be associated with the Republicans right now. That is the game Cameron is playing, knowing full well he would lose alot of borderline constituencies should he be seen to be as explicit in pursuit of his ideology.

But be under know illusions Conservatives in the UK wuld love to be as brash as the Tea Party Republicans are in America. They just can't get away with it. But look more closely at the Tory manifesto and you will see policies implemented now such as elected police commisioners that were heavily influenced by America and that is the ultimate goal of the Conservative Party. To continue to see America as the the ultimate aspiration and not Europe.
