Too true.

The dangers of modifying a Constitution by "re-interpreting" what it says into something different, instead of modifying it by passing concretely written amendments, were known back in colonial time, in fact long before our Constitution was written.

George Washington warned against doing that in his Farewell Address. Not being a very PC guy, he called this plan to "re-interpret" the Constitution what it really was: "Usurpation". And he pointed out that, even if such "re-interpretation" might appear to give a favorable result for one person or group today, it must be avoided since it was the favorite tool of people who wanted to impose tyrannical governments.

"If in the opinion of the People, the distribution or modification of the Constitutional powers be in any particular wrong, let it be corrected by an amendment in the way in which the Constitution designates. But let there be no change by usurpation; for though this, in one instance, may be the instrument of good, it is the customary weapon by which free governments are destroyed. The precedent must always greatly overbalance in permanent evil any partial or transient benefit which the use can at any time yield."
- George Washington, "Farewell Address", Sept. 17, 1796

But today, of course, the big-govt fanatics want us to ignore the words of those dead white guys. And it's not hard to see why: Washington was warning us against exactly what they would do, 200 years before they would try it. Washington could really call 'em, couldn't he?

The horrors.
You say that until its one of your causes. If the people decided collectively tomorrow that abortion was unconstitutional and made it illegal all the "living document" liberals would go crazy.

The same can be said of conservatives.

Just like an activist judge is just a judge who makes a decision a conservative doesn't like.

I love how mortified Caucasian Conservatives are of Obama winning another election! Of course he will take all of your guns away and give it to the gangbangers in the "hood"! Next thing you know he will set up FEMA camps where you will be force fed fried chicken & watermelon while having to date somebody named "Laquisha".
Run for the hills.

Hysterical, racist rants like the above are typical of desperate liberal fanatics who see they are losing more and more elections and realize they can't do anything to stop the trend.

Too bad, so sad.

YIKES......! That sounds worse than Honniker's paradise....

Your raillery was entertaining however, I think of myself as a classic 60's mixed race "American" Liberal and am not affiliated with either of the 2 big political parties that are selling us down the river...I support Libertarians like Dr. Paul and I apostatize today's "progressives" posing as Liberals....Today's callow Liberals (progressives) are an incubus for the future of freedom loving people..

I wish there was a requirement that to run for President of the USA, you had to have worked for 200 days in the private sector and served at least 200 days in the Military so we wouldn't wind up with a mendacious Charlatan who says he has visited all 57 States and thanked so many CORPSE MEN....
