How would such a make-up of our government affect the United States after, say, two presidential terms like this?

I think America would more resemble this town...

We would have a bloody revolution on our hands to restore the US Constitution, in its entirety.

It's amazing how often that is forgotten. It won't take long until some apologist comes along to say how the dems didn't have a bullet proof 'super majority' so they didn't really have control.

It would depend on a few things. How many conservative Democrats are elected to Congress, do they have 60 votes in the Senate, or do they change the rules to make it a simply majority rules in the Senate.

So, if those things happened, my guess would be some sort of grand bargain on cutting military spending, raising taxes, and cutting SS, Medicare, Medicaid, which might include changing the tax code, etc to reduce long term budget deficits. The democratic party including Nancy Pelosi who is probably the most powerful "liberal" in Washington were all on board with this plan if only the Republicans had of raised taxes. So I think if they get power they enact something like that.

I think there'd be another stimulus. Hopefully they'd close gitmo finally. Get us out of Afghanistan. Then they'd try to position Hiliary to win in 2016

This all could think of.

Didn't we recently, relatively, have these offices/bodies controlled by one party? Democrats? At the start of the Obama Presidency. And what did that get us? Not a hell of a lot. There's value in having the House or Senate in the hands of the "other guy." But only if you have an honest loyal opposition. We haven't had that, though, since the House went Republican.

In the 6-7 months when that was the case, things were moving along quite well. Too bad for us it could not be continued after the election of Brown. Perhaps we will correct the big mistake of 2010 and get back on track.

If that tells you anything, in the land of Teddy's seat.
The crap must have really hit the fan, for a Progressive State as Massachusetts, to vote a repeal of what was going down on the Hill.

It was only moving along well if you cling to neo-Marxism and wish to destroy the Constitutional Republic. Scott Brown is barely to the right of a dead Kennedy. However, neo-Marxists froth at the mouth in anticipation of the very thought that the Maoist Fauxahontas might be elected.

Exactly. The little people (democrats) are either extremely forgetful or were too stupid to know what it meant. And all Oboy did the entire time was blame Bush.

Since the huge tea party victories in 2010, all he's done is blame Republicans.

The bottom line is he hasn't accomplished a single thing in nearly 4 years and his base, who wouldn't know responsibility if it slapped them in the face, are sitting around whining and bellyaching about how everything is someone else's fault.
