I can't answer your thread because they already embrace the second amendment. They do not embrace all the other nonsense rabid right lobbed onto it as technology has progressed to the point of military arsenals in the hands of irresponsible, unqualified, aspiring Napoleons.

Um, no. Maybe if Limbaugh became a democrat though.

Harbor, there is a different between supporting and embracing.

Really, the Democratic party in Chicago, which is the 3rd most populous city in the USA embraces the 2nd amendment?? Until recently you couldn't legally have a handgun in your own home.

I know there are plenty of Democrats that support gun rights, but I'm talking about the party as a whole, especially the leadership

In an election year, gun legislation is the 3rd rail.

What a load of BS. The Democratic party does not 'embrace the second amendment' in any way shape or form other than to wish it didn't exist. You know a successful lie has to contain at least a grain of truth and your post doesn't.

If the Democratic party truly embraced the individual right to bear arms they would lose as well as gain voters, they would probably on balance gain more than they would lose but they wouldn't sweep the GOP since there are far more reasons people don't vote D than just gun rights.

In the real world it's not going to happen though unless there is a complete change of leadership in the Democratic party, no one will every believe that Schumer, Pelosi, Boxer, Kerry etc would ever embrace the idea of the individual right to bear arms.

The leadership certainly supports the second amendment. Local governments like Chicago, DC, and NYC are not the leadership of the party.
