Ever the fate of the Democrats. FDR cleans up after Hoover. JFK after Eisenhower. Carter after Nixon/Ford. Clinton after Reagan/Bush-1. Now this. You have to start wondering why we bother electing any of these Republicans at all...
FDR had a war to pull a country out of the Depression. Not sure how JFK cleaned up more messes than he caused, and an assertion that Carter cleaned up after anyone is laughable.....

1) Because (rich) people make **** loads of money during Republican eras

Carter was on pace to clean it up, unfortunatley we had 8 years of Reagan to completly destroy everything, add another 8 years of Bush Jr. I would say this country is permanently ****ed
LBJ: Vietnam. Mah fellow merkins.
Guns and Butter. And Great Society. And this. And that. All on the cuff.
NO ONE has cleaned up after that trainwreck.
That's what Paul Volcker did. He wrung the inflation expectation that built up in the aftermath of the "guns AND butter" days of Johnson and Nixon out of the economy during his chairmanship of the Federal Reserve.

And who eliminated the kind of deficit spending that Johnson initiated?
Oh, please. LBJ: Vietnam. Mah fellow merkins. Guns and Butter. And Great Society. And this. And that. All on the cuff. NO ONE has cleaned up after that trainwreck.
What happened to Nixon's Secret Plan to End the War? All we got was Watergate and wage/price controls. What Gerald Ford would ultimately call our long, national nightmare. Not really much of a cleanup effort there.

Not that the stock market is an indicator of any great deal, but you do get interesting results if you add up the stock market gains under Dem vs Rep administrations since the First World War or so...

I don't think it's so much stupidity. But it seems that more people do tend to go to Fantasyland than to Tomorrowland...
And who eliminated the kind of deficit spending that Johnson initiated? Oh, that's right. Nobody.
Actually, Johnson's highest deficit was at 2.9% of GDP in 1968, and his 5-year average was 1.0%. By the time you got to Reagan and Bush-1, their lowest was 2.8% in 1989, and their 12-year average was 4.1%. So in a way, I guess you could say that it was Reagan/Bush-1 who in fact eliminated the kind of deficit spending that LBJ initiated. Those two guys just took it up to a whole other level...

...becuase LBJ's social goody basket just kept costing more and more.
Remember the (cough cough) war on poverty?
When does the surge start on that one?
