Last month, 42 Senators blocked Senate Bill S-3364, which would ban tax deductions for expenses of moving workers or operations overseas from the U.S. The bill also would allow a tax deduction for companies returning jobs to the US from overseas.
So?
America cannot compete in the Global Economy, due to the fact that American workers are grotesquely over-paid.
How does the bill make it so that US companies can compete globally? A tax deduction? Are you serious?
Suppose a company needs to make a $5 profit per item sold to survive. If a US company has to sell their product for $29 because it costs $24 to make with the over-paid American work-force and all of the goofy taxes and regulations, how are people in other countries making $2/hour supposed to buy that product? Especially when global competitors are selling the same product for $7?

6.6 Billion non-Americans * $5 Profit for LG the Korean corporation = $33 Billion
What did LG the Korean corporation do with its profits? It bought stock in Zenith until one day around 1995 or so, LG the Korean corporation owned Zenith, since LG had bought up 51% of the stocks.
By the time 1999 rolled around, LG the Korean corporation owned all 100% of Zenith stock, and Zenith was no more.
So how many Americans lost jobs because of that?
Substitute any American corporation for Zenith and any foreign competitor for LG and, Lather, Rinse, Repeat and let's see how many Americans are living in card-board boxes.

And that number will grow as more jobs go elsewhere. People were much luckier under FDR; Republicans were firmly realistic about getting people back to work. I knew several successful men who got their start in the CCC or WPA, and they were Republicans. The group we have today are perfectly willing to see children and the elderly go hungry or without medical care due to some nebulous Mammon. "The love of money is the root of all evil." Another point that Christ got right.
Are you denying that this is a 'do nothing' congress? The problem is 2 sided.

The House seems to be working like it is suppose to. It is the Senate and it's leadership, that is the problem. How many bills has Harry Reid tabled, not even brought to the floor for a vote one way or the other? Is he afraid they will pass?

Many of the bills passed by the Rep controlled House are partisan, or have other legislation attached to them (remember the battle to extend the tax cuts at the end of 2011?)
I agree that Reid should allow them to come to a vote, but the Republican's use of filibusters is equally crippling. IMO both parties should be ashamed. JMO

I can't for the life of me think about now people think that we can punsih or bribe companies back ot to reamin when its compatitiveness. Stupid politcal decisions really which may in the end mean compnaies stop listing on exchnage has american componies. I can remmber the same non-sense when we griped about impost o cars ;then japan limited inposts and now they gripe that japanese moved plants here. its a international market ;the growth is in emering markets and we ceratinly do not want a trade war which would mean we fall further and furthewr behnd with companies driven off.

Until American workers settle for 2 bucks a day in wages with no benefits and are willing to get their dainty hands dirty doing something other than holding protest signs the jobs aren't coming back....

I'd be curious to know how many posters espousing "worship of the rich" are living on a minimum wage salary, with no health insurance...none would be the answer, I think. It's not as easy as some fantasize.
