The Bill is political claptrap ... and is simply posturing and political rhetoric, having no value whatsoever, except to pander to the clueless sheep.
These corporations aren't paying taxes to begin with, for crying out loud. What needs to happen (and you can bet every last dime of that hope and change in your pocket that nobody in the District of Criminals will do it) is to halt this insanity by ditching these free trade agreements ... imposing tariffs on foreign imports, and disallowing American corporations to import their products to America. You don't make it here .. you don't sell it here .. simple as that. Then watch factories spring up out of the ground like weeds in your garden.
Once upon a time, the American people had a brain that was actually able to think rationally, and reach simple conclusions. Not anymore ... any BS story .... the more BS the better ... is the only thing they believe. One of these is "tariffs = protectionism" ... and we can't have that!
Oh yes indeedy ...we can't actually protect ourselves ... that would be wrong. What a silly idea, huh?
Fact is, trade tariffs were conceived and designed to prevent what is happening to us today. You see, a nation that would allow a foreign power to flood their markets with cheap goods, without such restrictions imposed by tariffs and import laws, would literally be allowing that foreign country to destroy it's economy by killing domestic manufacturing.
And that is precisely what is happening ... aided by criminal bribe takers in congress, transnational corporations have been flooding America with cheap goods manufactured by slave labor ... with the double whammy of moving our own industries off shore to use as weapons against us.
With friends like Congress and American Corporations ... who needs enemies. And with a dumbed down population such that exists today, it's like taking candy from a baby.
Back in the 50's, we had a 1 income family structure, and that 1 income was able to support a family of 4.
5 years after Japan and Europe were in ruins! Your period referenced wondering why the uneducated masses did so well than, would be like asking the sole vending company what percentage of stadium sales are theirs?

Or, you could look at the world without the coke bottle glasses and realize that Japan couldn't sell squat in the United States even before WW II. That we created the auto industry long before WW II. That it was our manufacturing capability that made it possible for the United States to defeat Nazi Germany who were sweeping across Europe like a hoard of locus, with not so much as a speed bump in the road. That Britain was literally months away from total defeat, as was the rest of the world.
The post war era didn't create the United States, the United States and our manufacturing power and ingenuity saved, and then rebuilt Europe and Japan and Germany. Even late into the 60's and 70's, the "Made in Japan" trademark meant "crap no one wants to buy", until we taught them how to manufacture goods.
We invented virtually all of the modern conveniences from electricity to automobiles to telephones to television to computers that provided that economic growth. We even taught the Arabs what oil was, how it can be used, and how to get it out of the ground. Throughout this period, China had rice patties, and their chief form of transportation was the ox chart .. until we sold them bicycles. They couldn't even fend off Japan prior to WW II for crying out loud. We took Japan out as a hobby ... while defeating Germany.
Education .... it's really taken a beating over the last 30 years.

The Japanese wisely listened to Deming; Detroit listened to the UAW. It sunk the D3 and the state of Michigan. Now had Detroit listened to Deming, the results might have differed greatly.

He simply took the principles learned by the American example, and translated it to the Japanese, post WW II.
It's not a case of not knowing how, or not listening to those principles ... it's unwillingness, because corporations, including the Auto industry abandoned anything that could be confused with "principles".
Like I said previously ... we were the world leaders in invention, manufacturing and innovation long before WW II. The only thing we're suffering from now is a complete absence of integrity ... not knowhow or ability.

We got soft, and the D3 lost to a hungry competitor who took customers and quality seriously. We deserved to lose. Now those who lost can rebound, but the first step is accepting that defeat was merited, and taking full, corrective action..especially when the action is painful.

Don't be stuck on stupid. Japan is dead, done .. stick a fork in them. One more earthquake and the country might wind up totally uninhabitable, and cease to exist.
The "globalists" have for the past 3 decades relocated their global manufacturing to China. This was done purposely to implode the US economy, and the global economy along with us. And because China now relies on global commerce for the majority of it's livelihood, they're gonna die too.
That's when the "new system" will be rolled out by the saviors of the world who engineered the collapse, but not before WW III .... that's next up.
Why does it seem to take a rocket scientist to figure out the jobs are going overseas because it's cheaper to build things there PLUS with jobs overseas corporations never have to worry about unions, strikes and prima-donna workers?
Want jobs to come back to America?
Lower the minimum wage and outlaw unions....
And then we can all live like slaves, except for our few corporate owners, and return to the living standards of the mid 1800s. That sounds great.
