Could they not find something better than a serpent. The biblical implications alone would cause pause. Of course in the bible, the serpent symbolizes evil. Is this how the tea party wishes people to see them?

One of the symbols in the American Revolution was a picture of a snake with the caption, "Don't Tread On Me".
It referred to the idea that government should leave people alone and let them live their lives; and that no harm would come as long as they did. But if they tried to mess with the people, they'd get hurt badly.

And you, like the rest of them, were taught that the origin of the snake dates back no farther than American Revolution.
But, here's the funny part... what was meant to symbolize unity and working together, is now used by some of the most divisive people on the planet.
