The OP offered some genuine points open for discussion as to ways of reducing our violent crime rate. You are welcome to your position that it is stupid to attempt to improve a national social problem, and that making an effort to try to reduce America's crime rate is belittling the USA. But greater minds than your own are busy at work trying to accomplish what cannot be done by burying your head in the sand.

With more than 5 percent of our adult males either in prison, on parole or on probation, I think it is pretty obvious what one of our national social problems is. Only four industrialized countries have a crime rate higher than the United States:

Well then, maybe it is because the morals values of those 5% have gone down the tubes. So, I guess the next question is, why have the moral values in this country gone down the tubes?

it is. the deception, which bothers me alot, is its not a firearms thing. 40% of the annual 22,000 homocides is thru puncture wounds. why the massive crankup about firearms. this sounds like berlin 1938 just b4 they confiscated.

In my opinion, it is because the ec onomy is down, we have an awful president, lack of police vigilance, and people are filled with ignorance.
