i do fine woodwork, no thanks.. no need for a 8 dollar an hour job,, but if push came to shove i would pick berries if i had to.. you are pathetic for making assumptions
like the one poster said why would people work for 8 dollars an hour when they can collect unemployment and food stamps...
some people will find any excuse not to get a job, and if the food stamps, WIC, housing assistance, and welfare can offer enough money to keep their cell phone, cable TV and internet on.... well, that might just be fine and dandy with them.
The economy is getting better all the time. Just think how well we might have been doing by now if the Republican's would have done what's right for the country, rather than what's right for their party?
THE number of jobs available in the United States has risen to its highest level in four years, the Bureau of Labor Statistics said this week, providing more evidence that the job market is slowly recovering.
There were 3.8 million job openings at the end of June, up 105,000 from the previous month and the most since July 2008. That is also 1.6 million more openings than when the market hit bottom in July 2009…
yet there were 2.9 million job openings in nov2010 and the UE rate is still over 8%..
.yep same thing they were saying 1 year ago..and 2 years ago and 3 years ago( two years ago it was 2.9 million openings, a year ago it was 3.4 million(sept11))
yet for some reason. thoe jobs never get filled...why..people would rather have the handouts, than to work

There were 2.9 million job openings on the last business day of September, the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics reported on November 9. The job openings rate was little changed over the month at 2.2 percent. The hires rate and separations rate both remained at 3.2 percent in September.
Job Openings
The number of job openings in September was 2.9 million, which was little changed from August. Although the month-to-month change is small, the number of job openings in September was 25 percent higher than the number at the most recent series trough in July 2009. This trough immediately followed the end of the recession in June 2009 (as designated by the National Bureau of Economic Research). Even with the gains since July 2009, the number of job openings in September remained below the 4.4 million jobs open when the recession began in December 2007. U.S. job openings rate shows little change

obamy is a failure

One can get up to $400/week on unemployment. Why would they choose $7.95/hour over $400/week ?
And what state would that be. The amount you receive depends on the state you live in and your previous salaries. So obviously someone that was making minimum wage would not collect anywhere near $400 a week.

What is your point ;that americans without jobs are lazy loffers?3.8 million jobs of what kind. Same agency says that the unemployment raose to 8.2% ;a increase. At he rate that we are addig jobs wecan't amke any progress o unemployed because the numbers are so low that overall in a quater we created less than persons entering the workforce. I think these jobs are like thsoe shovel ready jobs.

So, I think the real question is....if there are 3.8 million job openings right now, why are they not filled?
Could it be they get more for sitting on there A$$?
Why are they not filled?"
1. HR departments and hiring managers cannot ever fill all of their job openings... you hire 8, 7 leave, you hire 3, 5 leave. It takes alot of time and resources to get it all done. Realistically, about 97% employment is about the max rate ever possible. And these HR depts and hiring managers have been short-handed so it is even harder.
ex. It's like saying, why aren't all of 'ABC Electricians' work orders completed at any one time.
2. Our "good" jobs are requiring more specialized experience and education than ever. Plus, the private sector especially, is loathe to train people anymore because it effects their bottom-line. So qualified people ready to perform right away are hard to find. No wonder we look for them world-wide.
ex. In our service based economy, we mostly have "good" jobs or "mcJobs" ... tragically for recent grads, we've lost much of the inbetween.
The last 2 years show that tricle down does not work. 3.8 million job openings, the stock market is at record highs again, companies are exceeding profit expectations....and they aren't hiring. Why hire when you are doing that well with the minimal staff you have after you laid everyone off 4 years ago?
