Overwrought? I don't think so. You two are perfect examples for why the "progressives" need to be flushed out of government. If one is going to sit and argue that all was find and dandy when our government was doing these sick things they did there is something very wrong in your thinking. You either don't understand or agree with it which is even more disturbing. These same people aligned themselves with Nazi Germany at the time. And that is just fine in your eyes apparently. At lease some learned from this horrific experiment done to humans. Others apparently want to move forward and start it up all over again as they see no problem with what occurred prior. Your Saint Sanger is in hell where she belongs.

Obviously you did not read any link other than your own very biased link and you have not learned any more history than you already knew, which was/is sorely lacking regarding Margaret Sanger. Btw, exactly, specifically what "sick things" did our government do related to Margaret Sanger's work? Huh?

Margaret Sanger is not my "saint" regardless of how many times you say these inflammatory things... Try reading about Sanger some place other than extremist anti-choice cut and paste web sites. Even Wiki gives more extensive information about Sanger, both the positive contributions she made as well has her racism and eugenics beliefs!

I notice you didn't answer any of the questions regarding how the use of contraceptives have made your life more enjoyable and enhanced the life of your family by being able to have some control over the number of children you have and not being forced into the choice of abstinence or having so many children that it is an enormous burden to try to support them all.

Of course you'll never answer these questions because it would then require you to admit that you do have something for which to thank Sanger:

Btw, simple questions: Do you oppose the use of contraception? Are you anti-birth-control via the use of contraception? Do you like the idea that you and your wife can have sex without the specific and only purpose being to conceive a child? Do you like the fact that you have some choice in whether or not you have three children rather than, say, 12 or 10, or however many your wife can produce before she drops dead, without the only option being abstinence in order to control the number of children you have? If so, you can THANK Margaret Sanger for your options.

Your new "questions" have nothing to do with the topic of sterilizing folks and what was included in the healthcare bill and how progressives of the past loved this idea and how progressives of today take that same line. Your new "simple question" has nothing to do with that either. Why do you keep spinning this off in different directions on a whim and then come back wondering why your "questions" aren't answered? When they are you deflect and then ask new questions that have nothing to do with the previous ones or anything at all to do with the original post. That apparently is all you do. You are good at it I'll give you that.

More wars? You're thinking of Bush, Obama did not start the wars in Iraq or Afghanistan.

Your inability to acknowledge that aspects of Margaret Sanger's work were exceedingly positive, says it all. You were the one who brought Sanger into the conversation in order to support your fantasy that people today are advocating and laying the groundwork for compulsory sterilization based on her support of eugenics; now you are not willing to acknowledge that her work involved far more than eugenics. Got it.

I don't care what Sanger did because she isn't here doing it now. Acknowledgement is one thing (like the experiments the nazi Dr's did...we all agree it was bad) but that doesn't mean what we use that for now should be eliminated because of a detail about it's origins. I'm telling you, the people you are naming were not the first to think about this stuff...

Sanger, Margaret. 1920. Woman and the New Race

Entire book online by Margaret Sanger, if you dare. Keep in mind the context of the time in which it was written, when infant, child, and maternal mortality rates were horrific, and also the limited level of medical and surgical knowledge and skill present in that day and age.

In short, she was advocating for families as a whole, for mothers and children specifically. It was far too common in many families that women had frequently-spaced pregnancies, often beginning in their teens, often continuing unabated until they reached menopause. The costs -- financial, nutritional, mental -- were grave for many.

If you cannot (or will not) discern the difference between her views and those of Nazi Germany, the problem lies squarely with YOU.

It seems that it would be impossible to be intellectually honest and not acknowledge those things......I suspect KU and the OP will now abandon this thread completely.

You may be right but it is because you leaners have tried so hard to keep the topic on Sanger and nothing from you about the topic of the OP. If I leave remember that it was your fault and the deflecting Alinskyite crap you have been pulling.

--Thread began on subject of 'population control', accusing current administration of forcibly sterilizing minors (Hint: It's a LIE)

--Thread explores, as INACCURATELY as possible, the history of one Margaret Sanger, a woman who fought for women's reproductive choice

--Posters defend Margaret Sanger against inaccurate portrayal of her, with actual FACTS

And you think that's 'deflection'?

Facts are essential, Roy. Try 'em out sometime.
