Unfortunately the Southern States want to impose their views on the Northern and Western ones, who want the federal government to be involved in certain things such as education, food safety, environment, infrastructure etc. and not turn us into a theocracy.
The only way that I see an amicable resolution is to have two separate federal governments with perhaps some cooperation as needed. There are countries out there with this model.
The conservative ideal is limited federal government. A Limited federal government doesn't "impose their views" on thier citizens. That's what socialist governments do. You are projecting here.
The problem is they wont. They want you to submit to their theocracy, in the same way as radical Islam does.

That's not the way a limited federal government works. The founders felt the federal government had three functions; protection of the nation, regulation of interstate trade, and peace treaties. All other functions of government was left to the state and local governments.
Socialist governments (our present system, national socialism, communism), like the iranian theocracy, impose their will on the citizens with a strong federal government. I hope that clears that up for ya'.
Black Slavery will be outlawed, so The New South (like Britain) will ship in Indians from South Asia to be the slaves.

I am not calling anyone racists, but this is typical of what happens to minorities in the south.
