water is water
H2O is indeed H2O, but we aren't talking about pure water. We are talking about what is in the water that you consume all day everyday and that 80%+ of a human body consist of.

"Bottled" water varies greatly, there is spring, filtered tap, deep artesian, distilled etc... The products are not the same. This is why they always say bottled water, as a "catch all". Bacteria is a very small part of what can hurt you in "water". Everything in the water, including chemicals and heavy metals is accumulated in your tissues over time. Even chlorine and chloramine, which kills fish and other creatures is also killing healthy gut bacteria. Have you seen studies on how important your gut and immune system is?

Have you seen what those chemicals do to metal and synthetic components such as toilet flappers? We aren't talking simple mineral erosion.

Never mind the heavy metal chemical waste they have been adding, which more and more localities are letting people vote to stop such medieval practices.

Default Tap water is the exact same quality as wastewater (also known as ‘toilet on tap’)

Not in my country it's not: http://dwi.defra.gov.uk/about/annual...er-england.pdf

Compliance with the EU Drinking Water Directive for England and Wales combined was the same as the previous year at 99.96% with only 0.04% of 1.9 million tests failing to meet one of the chemical or microbiological standards. Although the figure for England was also 99.96%, it was marginally down on the previous year’s figure of 99.97%.

In relation to the requirement to keep disinfection by-products as low as possible, this has been assessed by the Inspectorate in relation to one group of these substances, known as trihalomethanes, which may arise when chlorine is used in water treatment. In 2011, across England and Wales, the annual average concentration of total trihalomethanes was 9.9μg/l in groundwater supplies and 27.9μg/l in surface water influenced supplies, compared to the standard of 100μg/l. Overall therefore, the level of disinfection by-products in pubic water supplies is being well controlled by the water industry.

water is water
I do not know what kind of polluted rivers you have in New York, but our rivers in Alaska are a lot cleaner than tap water.

Dunno about the OP, but the prison planet goofs - as you can see at the end of this craptastic article - are trying to scare you into buying a water filter

Fun fact: 9% of everyone's DNA is composed of viral sequences.

A good point made in the video is the increase of pharmaceuticals in the water. They aren't sure what effect, if any, this type of microdosing will have on people.
