Thousands of those in their 70's served in Vietnam.....

i am an old southerner. and u r right. when romney cuts medical my mom is probably guna go back home with me. this means my life expectancy will nose dive and u can forget about siblings helping me.
but still mr obama who i voted for, has got a 17 trillion debt. bush did 9 trillion but that leaves mr obama with some explaining to do. he did not leave iraq (blackwater a huge presence there) and he launched bigtime on afganistan. guantanomo is still in biz. and mr obama has ordered numerous navy seal and drone hits instead of using criminal justice system. also fema camps are a reality but receive no explanation from obama at all, just lots hand waving & lots of glittering speeches. your remark about money where you mouth is true of all americans not just old people, everybody wants everything free and lots of it.

FYI..most colleges today have an emergency alert system where they text their students.
Code Maroon is what A&M uses. It's part of orientation to incoming students and they are encouraged to sign up.

I guess you are not aware of that ?

They need to have some "skin in the game" too instead of just whining about that "ol socialist O-bama."

Why is it up to seniors to make DEMANDS?

It is really telling that you think the older generation is still responsible for you. Grow up and make your own DEMANDS.

Are you going to DEMAND that the govt close our borders and take care of it's citizens before it allows the poor from other nations to come and dilute the benifits that we have all had to pay in to? Are you going to DEMAND that until unemployment rates are lower we won't bring in outside labor that keeps wages low? Are you going to DEMAND that we educate the children of our own country before those of other nations?

No, you and Obama think it's "the right thing to do" to share what we've worked for with the world. So if YOU aren't smart enough to see that we can't be the nanny state of the world and YOU won't DEMAND that it stops, you will share in the diluted benifits you are left with.

It's not the fault of seniors that you won't DEMAND that you are entitled to benifits before cheap labor imported for votes.

Our healthcare costs skyrocketed after the amnesty of the 80's and we started paying for healthcare for anyone that came here for a better life. It ain't seniors that are robbing from you.

Nah, it isn't. Sometime in my recent past my husband and I were eating dinner at a nice restaurant to be subjected to listening to a table full of age 70 plus-ers going on about Obama, democrats in general, welfare recipients, etc. If they didn't want anyone else listening to them they shouldn't have been talking so loud or they should have stayed at home. Their conversation concluded with a couple of them whinging about split plate charges and trying to figure out exactly a 10% tip and not a cent more. However, I was not upset by their conversation - Hubby and I were entertained laughing at their buffoon-ery.

But what upset me was how one of the old men was complaining about how Obama is saddling his grandchildren with debt. Yet, I didn't hear him volunteer to pay more for his Medicare benefits as per the Ryan plan, yet he's Ok with the younger folk paying payroll taxes to support the program and receive less benefits. What ever happened to "shared sacrifice?"
It's a fact that our bloated defense budget in real dollars is twice than that of the Eisenhower admin, which was engaged in a brutal Cold War with the russians. Before the gov't cuts the social benefits that we are forced to pay for, the gov't needs to not spare the defense budget for reduction, not even think of eliminating capital gains tax and come clean on what type of deductions that they wish to eliminate from federal income taxes.

MAYBE he isn't on medicare?
