Coming to Saudi Arabia: The world's first women-only city - The Week

I'm torn on this one. On the one hand, it's a step towards independence for women in this country. On the other hand, it's basicly shutting them off to the side and out of the way. Will it truly be women only or will the religious police be patrolling the city area to enforce their laws with swift and painful methods like beatings? If no religious police, perhaps possible lesbians could finally have a bit more freedom and less fear of getting caught and killed. Don't know if this will also mean they can wear western style clothing or swim without wearing a full body swimsuit.

Did you even read the article? It has nothing to do with lesbians. Nothing.

But, the idea is to allow women to work and it's a way to get around the rule for men and women not to mix. It's seperate and, trust me, there will be no equal about it, but it is a step forward. An itty, bitty baby step, but at least it's forward.

Yes, I read the whole article. I know it wasn't in there, but if the city is truly women only then there is a possibility that lesbians can act on their feelings with less fear of death. I also know that when it comes to "planning", plans change. Though it's officially labeled as a women only area, that doesn't mean religious police won't eventually show up to enforce their morality through beatings or executions. They are not above dressing in burkas to catch women unaware.

The Saudi elders have conducted their own 'talmudic debate' and have found a way to circumvent their own law.

Sooner or later, they will find a way to nullify all of their restrictive laws, then they can join the rest of degenerate society.
