this is a story that is disconcerting. A Marine gets arrested because of posting some anti-government statements on his Facebook....

Group representing ex-Marine says veteran is being detained for anti-government Facebook posts - The Washington Post

Former Marine Brandon Raub Is Being Held In A Psychiatric Ward Over Facebook Posts About 9/11 - Business Insider

(2 sources for the same story)

So apparently we no long have free speech and here I thought our forefathers wanted us to consider overthrow if the government got out of line.... Guess if they get too big and powerful you may end up on a psych ward ....

If this becomes a trend do you suppose people will be worried? How many does it take before people will think its a problem?

The military has always had constraints on what they can say in regards to politics. This is nothing new.

There appears to be a lot more to this story than just the exercise of free speech and the curtailment of same. I'm sure by about page two in this thread we will find out that president obama is behind it all and pulling the strings.

Yeah, this isn't anything new. If you join the military you are limited on what you are allowed to say because we can't have people in the military going against orders. It is one of those contracts you sign when you join up.
