Thank goodness that Recovery Summer worked-out so great last year for Obama!!

The worst unemployment rise by States in three years.....

Unemployment rates rose in 44 U.S. states in July, the most states to show a monthly increase in more than three years and a reflection of weak hiring nationwide.

The Labor Department said Friday that unemployment rates fell in only two states and were unchanged in four.

Unemployment rates rose in nine states that are considered battlegrounds in the presidential election. That trend could pose a threat to President Barack Obama's re-election bid in less than three months.

You probably don't understand what this means but only a few states had a statistically significant increase according to the report. And in the interest of truth and fairness, virtually every state had significant reductions in unemployment on a year over year basis. California has added 1000 jobs a day over the past year to lead the nation. The improving economy is reflected in sharply increased retail sales and consumer confidence well above expectations. Sorry, the economic improvement suggests that we the people are going to win and the racists wing nuts are going to lose: four more years.

BWAHAHAHAHAHAHA......tell all those unemployed people that!!!

Is that why we are still MINUS 1.3 Million jobs over Obama's tenure??

Read it AGAIN:

the average employment gain over the last 28 months has been just about 150k, precisely what is required to fill up the natural increase in the labor supply. That means if you were one of 8 million axed in the official recession and not employed, well just consider yourself OBooBoo's collateral damage so he can continue his anti business regime. And the next 800k openings will go to OBooBoo's beloved illegals, of course.

Your foreclosure, lack of food, clothing, shelter, went for that "worthy" cause. Perhaps a leftie might even clothe you some winter night in "Yes, We Can" campaign posters.

News Flash: Since 1/20/09, long-term unemployment has doubled to a record 5.2 million.

If states had an increase, even slightly, wouldnt this mean its not a recovery? Or is that the new left wing spin, more people out of work equates to more jobs, similar to more people getting food stamps is a sign of a better economy.. oooh brother..

Like I said, you probably would not understand. I am not going to waste time explaining statistical significance or how the unemployment figures are reached, but in a nutshell, no it would not. The economy continues to show slow to moderate improvement as it has pretty much since Obama took over the Presidency.

According to Ponderosa's "logic" [??], then the fact that unemployment ROSE in NINE BATTLEGROUND States means that Obama's popularity in those States will rise as well.

I know all abou thow they are computed, but everyone knows that higher unemployment numbers does not mean a better economy, despite your left wing kooks proclaiming otherwise..

I wonder what a Liberal calls "statistically significant"?

I would consider a .1% point rise to be within that category.

Would .5% be statistically significant?

In Nevada, the rate rose to 12 percent in July from 11.6 percent the previous month (.4%)

Michigan, the rate has increased to 9 percent, from 8.5 percent two months earlier. (.5%)
