Well we all know where the stimulous ended up after was all said and done. YOu know all those shovel ready projects that were touted then Obama himself only smirking later about how they weren't all shovel ready after all. Meanwhile all his campaign bundlers were being paid off left and right. It appears this is the final payment due. Good riddance. If it cost 450 million to get that turd out of office and they put a check box on our tax returns last year for folks to volunteer to donate to get rid of him he would surely be long gone by now.

That bill was passed 10 years ago. When Obama realized jobs weren't "as shovel ready" as he thought, why didn't he release the funds then? You think the unemployed then could wait? Rather negligent of our dear leader not to release these funds until it's convenient for him -- never mind the poor bloke who's waiting for the job.

So what if it takes years to build a bridge? What's wrong with starting that work NOW? Everybody knows that these things require planning! Btw, I certainly didn't say a bridge could be built immediately. The sooner the process is started, the better.

My mouth drops at the cyincism of those who constantly cry that the country is going to hell in a handbasket even in the face of efforts to repair the economy. It think it's really a matter of being ANTI-OBAMA, no matter what the does.
“We’re not going to let politics stand between construction workers and good jobs repairing our roads and bridges.â€

The One said this on August 17, 2012. Hmmmmmm, I wonder why he didn't say it in 2011 or even 2010. I am sure he feels he can "buy" some votes by doing it now. He is spending money that was appropriated in 2003 - 2006. Surely he knew that money was sitting there so there is some political reason he has waited so long.

I am saying this because you have been taken in by his actions and are squealing about how great it is that he waited so long to get those jobs going. Do you really bother to read links so you won't look like an Obama lover and using words like my mouth drops open when people see through his actions and you can't do that?

A guy here makes an assertion and they demand "proof" but over in the Romney tax return thread they throw out assertions and speculation that borders on insane and we are supposed to prove them wrong.

The world is truly crazy.

The wait delayed the spending announcement until 11 weeks prior to the November election.
The announcement is part of the administration’s “We Can’t Wait†effort, which highlights the president’s authority to change spending, law enforcement priorities and regulations, independent of Congress and the courts.
The redirected $473 million includes funds from appropriation laws passed up to 10 years ago, Josh Easton, the White House’ deputy press secretary, announced Aug. 17."

That is really chump change with government spending. The problem may come as some in congress may see this unspent money from areas as not needed and cut i next budget from those areas. In the end congress determines funding one way or the other.

All that chump change adds up after a while. That is what I tell my daughter when I toss her a empty coke can and she says why save it it's only a nickel.

Every sitting president looking for a second term has used this strategy to garner votes. They flood the nation with short term government spending to give the economy a kick right before an election. Obama is doing what every other president has done.

Ah so that is his excuse. Obama was supposed to be different. Remember how he was going to "change" the way DC operates. No more lobbyists, all this transparency bla bla bla.

To change Washington, you need both sides to do it.
