You really need to get your information from non-biased sources and do a little fact checking.

It was the Republican Party that pushed for passage of the 15th Amendment - black voting rights was opposed by the Democrats.

It was Western states conservatives who originally pushed for women's suffrage - and their efforts were opposed by Eastern liberals.

More Republicans voted for the Civil Rights Act of 1965 than did Democrats - and most of the opposition to the bill came from the Democratic Party.

You will recall that the Republican Party was founded for the sole purpose of abolishing slavery - and it accomplished this objective.

The Clean Air and Clean Water Acts were signed by a Republican President.

However - since Medicare and Social Security currently account for almost half of spending in the federal budget - I don't see how causing the national debt to go through the roof can be considered a good thing.

Not when black and white TV was around.
Even if so, most the the more "liberal" people when it came to race issues back then were Republicans, but then LBJ, did the right thing, lost of the Racist Democrats back then, Nixon used the Southern Strategy to court them and mostly subtle, but often blatant (ex: Reagan states rights speech in MS in 1980) behavior is found way more often in the GOP than in the Democratic side.

You are the one who linked to a quote that mentions actions that occurred mainly 40-50 years a go, around 90 years a go for women's suffrage - and in the case of the Fifteenth Amendment - during the 19th Century.

If you want to talk about TODAY - then do so.
