Well Im not sure if WV has open carry per the US constitution but I really dont see how this is a crime???

I went to the big box hardware mart here today wearing a camo hat to get some paint open carrying my holstered Glock 21, nobody cared...

Nobody makes holsters for rifles so you would normally use a sling, I could see trouble if he was carrying it around in his hands, that might be considered "brandishing"....

I hope this gets one of you anti freedom "liberals" all out of shape...

Heck I think Im gonna go "fondle" my .308 Ar a bit then go out back and shoot some steel targets...

All in the name of liberty and all that

In 1950 people wouldn't go jogging with a rifle across their back in full body armor.

Well we may have gone jogging with a shot gun or a rifle but certainly not with body armor. It didn't exist.

Of course in 1950 no one cared about seeing anyone with a gun.

Look, I understand the open carry part, but as a poster put up, he was next to a high school, in full body armor, and what looked to be a fake rifle.

He was either trying to scare people, draw attention to himself, or is completely insane.

A guy carrying his hunting rifle in normal clothes towards a gun shop, or towards his car, or towards a gun range, that I can understand. But this guy did this on purpose I'm betting, getting a fake gun and dressing up like a mass shooter just to draw attention to himself.

And again, this was right next to a school. I don't blame the officers for thinking this guy is a "bit off" and taking him in for questioning.

If they are carrying what looks like a weapon, next to a school, yeah, I think people would have cared.

And we all know what he was trying to do, unless he's insane, he was trying to pose as someone like the movie theater shooting, to draw attention to himself. He'd probably been running around town all week, and finally got the nerve to go by a school with kids, and then the police cared about it.

I'm for responsible gun ownership, not moronic dumbasses trying to prove how big their pecker is by showing their guns to everyone, or whats probably the case here someone trying to get their 15 minutes of fame on TV.

If your kid was in that school, happened to look out the window, they'd probably be a little freaked out by someone in full body armor with what looked like an assault rifle on his back. I take my son hunting all the time, we're going dove hunting here next weekend or so, but even he would have been freaked by some idiot with what looked like an assault rifle running around his school in full body armor.

Orange tip doesn't mean crap. Just because it looks like a toy doesn't make it so.
