The 90's weren't so bad because Clinton had to cooperate with a Republican congress, which is the reason why the economy was decent in that era, along with the "dot com boom".

Left to their own devices, the Democrats would have engineered an economic recession, which actually did occur in the later years of Clinton's reign, and which was corrected by President George W. Bush, who oversaw 6 years of unprecedented economic growth before the Democrats took over Congress in 2006, ushering in the current recession that has been exacerbated by the Obama administration, indicated by a current 14% unemployment rate.

Democrat policies suck.
