Prior to this, it would have been FDR. Social Security came into being. Thank God for that. I'm sure there was intense hemming and hawing. The economy absorbed this new institution.

Other than some Recovery Act money and some liberal social gestures, the ONLY radical thing Obama has done is bring a national health care insurance plan into effect, really only changing the game for some 13% of Americans. The word Obamacare is annoying. In the 90s, it was Hillarycare, which sputtered and didn't succeed. God willing, this will go through, giving the big middle finger to those with the "I've got mine" mentality. I hardly think of Obama as radical. Mostly, he's been doing "damage control."

Lincoln by a wide margin. He totally ignored the constitution and set us on a path of Big Government. He made the Federal Government ALL POWERFUL and totally changed the balance of power.

I agree. He is too much of the "village idiot" to accomplish anything radical.
