I wonder if we could make a movie of the Russians evacuating? We could set it up like Pearl Harbor but play some nice Russian Dirges in those real low tones. make it all in gray tones instead of color? The thing it it will be tuff if there is only 50 sailors..

50 sailors is a rather odd number.

There were more than twice that many on the Kursk.

I wonder if the number 50 relates to the number of American states.

Back in 1999/2000, Vladimir Putin said Russia would modernize the old USSR navy base at Tartus, Syria.

Interestingly, over the past 12 years, news articles keep saying the same thing... that Russia is refurbishing
and modernizing it's Tartus navy base.

Now, the latest news is... Russia has already suspended operation at its navy base at Tartus.

Russian Press - Behind the Headlines, August 24 | What Russian papers say | RIA Novosti

Wow... things *appear* rather dismal.

" Large NATO naval task forces are concentrated off Syrian coasts while the Russian grouping looks like a dwarf.
"We will be unable to keep our facility in Tartus by military means," a Defense Ministry source told the paper.
“We cannot, by military means, oppose countries that support the Syrian opposition,” he said. "

Russia may Evacuate Syrian Base, Says Navy Chief , 22 August 2012 Wednesday 18:14

The Russian navy would evacuate Tartus if attacked

.
Interesting that if Syria is invaded it will probably come from Turkey.

As I referenced previously, Turkey might as well take Armenia too.

Now that Russia has abandoned it's "dwarf" navy operations at Tartus Syria,
it might as well stop patrolling the Armenia/Turkey border and withdraw its
troops from its ally, Christian Armenia.

Forget all the previous rhetoric about protecting Christians worldwide... maybe
something was lost in translation and Vladimir Putin meant protect US/NATO.

Russia may Evacuate Syrian Base, Says Navy Chief , 22 August 2012 Wednesday 18:14

"""""""Over 50 sailors and officers are currently serving at the Tartus base, which is used for the repair and refueling of Russian vessels, according to Russia Today.

Wednesday, 22 August 2012""""

Ok so it says over 50, but No one is going to worry about over 50, unless it is over 50,000......

A few officers and 50 sailors can't run a flotilla of row boats!

It's your link not mine....

yeah I read Sun Tzu That works.... never be where anyone thinks you will be... Damnned fair set of tactics.. Rogers wrote the next best set, but died in England dead drunk.......

Maybe the Russians can have a nice base in Maine if they ask nice.... We don't seem to be using that one much anymore.

ROFLMAO You put this non sense up because you think Putin wants to protect Christians?

Oh man that's the funniest thing I heard this week! OMG what a riot!

I like the old Russians better when they had some real power. These new one's suck at being beggars and thieves. Well they are pretty good at being thieves....

But Putin protect? That's hilarious!

We don't need Putin to protect the USA either, that plain moon bat crazy talk.
