According to the article it was in bad shape back when Bush was spending trillions of dollars we didn't have also.

Actually it does because the federal government already has a budget to make building repairs. The fact that they chose to renovate vacant buildings, rather than make repairs to the capital building just goes to show how big government is inefficent.

The GOP is no longer a party that serves America as a whole, but a pack of mercenaries working for the wealthy few to cannibalize the rest of our society. Have fun with that folks.
oh geezus Government is the problem, not one party over another.

American Recovery and Reinvestment Act

GSA is using $5.5 billion in Recovery Act funds to convert federal buildings to high-performance green buildings and to build new, energy-efficient federal offices, courthouses and land ports of entry.

They have the money to build more buildings, even though they have thousands of vacant ones.. Maybe they need to STOP and use the money they already have..

It should be fixed but along with that the plan to pay for the repair. What we have had for far to long is spend spend spend and we'll think of a way to pay for it later.
here is an idea. From foreign aid deduct say 3% from each recipient to pay maintenance fees on their sugar daddy's house.

They already have a way to pay for it, the GSP has a budget yearly for federal property repairs. The fact that they didnt do their job, but was out spending billions of dollars building new buildings, is an indication of whats wrong with our government.

I agree. Perhaps instead of redoing the lawn at the capital mall some roof repairs would have been better.

Of course down there it takes a Union, and instead of a couple masons just getting it done for oh say 40,000 bucks it will take a Union and cost in millions, and only 40,000 bucks will pay for the little labor.

I figure if congress can build a bridge to nowhere this should be cake.
LOL Mac, 40grand will barely pay for the green/blue houses needed on the construction site.
