RIP, Neil. You were a great American hero and a true pioneer. You will be sorely missed, but never forgotten.

NASA helped ignite scientific innovation in this country. It's a perfect example that such grand tasks require a partnership between government and the private sector. I could attempt to articulate this and contrast it with the right-wing assertion that "Government bad," but you should probably listen to Bill Clinton speak on this subject.

I think we should take a moment to recognize the achievements of the 60's moon race, and take pause at where we are today.

Is America really so incapable of that kind of greatness again? Money or not, can we not do what we set our minds to anymore?

Neil Armstrong was a great man, and showed us what Americans can do. Lets reach for greatness again.

Very nice sentiment.

But it's not going to happen.

Apollo 11 was the zenith of the American empire.

America's foundation has now been compromised and is crumbling,
the empire is failing and falling and becoming a third world nation.

There will be many toasts to Mr. Armstrong tonight!

The Soviets were watching. Their scientists communicated with NASA scientists.

Few have shown his combination of service, accomplishment, and modesty.
I love the statememt, and most certainly will.

Its sad to hear about this. He did great things in life. However, on a somewhat brighter and ironic note, I attend astronomy class in the aerospace engineering building dedicated to him on my campus...

RIP Neil....
