this is what i am afraid of to many people including republicans counting on governemt.. Sher Valenzuela did build it and not the government. under Obamas logic every one should have their own business with the hep of the government, why then doesnt every one own a business? Obama is a solid socialist. who thinks most humans are idiot, dumb not very bright and in need of some one as smart as he is to guide them and tell them what is best for them. like a king or a dictator because knows what is best for all humans beings!!
That's not his logic. He's simply stating that we need to have equal access to resources like loans so we can have equal access to the American dream. If you come from a rich family, fine you don't need as much of the government's help. If not, you might need more. However, being poor should not eliminate your chances of obtaining middle class status. Also, it's true that the government does protect the wealth of its citizens, so the rich can't fully say that they did it on their own. It's simply not true. That's Obama's point. Not that we need to rely on the government, but their should be resources for people and that the extremely wealthy should recognize that they received some help from the government as well.
"You didn't build that ..."
Remember, any "Government financing" means it was originally TAKEN from taxpayers, reduced by the "skim" taken by government (for their magnanimous management), and then GIVEN to the recipient - with long strings attached.
I think you will agree that the "Taken" get far less benefit from their "contribution" than if they DIRECTLY funded the recipient.
The businesses that were paid to build the stadium, are you taking credit for helping them get started?
Yes, if a business got started with the help of a government loan, then it is the public that helped a private business build a foundation....why does this seem to be an impossible concept for Cons to understand, they seem to do plenty of complaining about the government being involved in everything.

Does every business start out with a government loan?
One has to be pretty dumb to not know who provided that loan, was it the private sector or the public sector? You and I foot that loan with the promise to be paid back.
You will be so kind as to let me know when the public sector produces something of value so that it doesn't have to take from the private sector in order to loan back to the private sector what it took from the private sector in the first place.
I wonder if the OP of this silly thread realizes that HuffPo is nothing but links to blogs. Hardly reliable.
I don't know about Media Matters. Probably the same bloggy stuff.

No. Mine didn't. No loans, period. Just sweat and tears.
